JonoF Posted 17July, 2017 Report Share Posted 17July, 2017 This isn't in Australia, but thought it worth sharing here any. A burnt out genuine black 73 911 RS currently available for a fraction of the usual $1 million price tag. Excellent buying if you have the additional budget to fix her up properly. http://www.crankyape.com/default.asp?pg=DisItems&Cat=11&locID=20 @turboT - it's almost black on black on black, and would be the centre piece of the collection you are currently amassing. turboT
Peter M Posted 17July, 2017 Report Share Posted 17July, 2017 (edited) Does anyone have any thoughts/know anything about this car https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Porsche-911-1979/OAG-AD-14806485 Worth a closer look.Assuming the LHS to RHS conversion has been done well - metal work and the wiring in particular - it would be then worth looking at all the usual universal 911 foibles before making an offer. Can't really comment on the dollars as I don't usually follow the conversion market place but there are many here who do and aren't short of an opinion. But it has been for sale for a while and the market is pretty slow. Coastr Posted 18July, 2017 Report Share Posted 18July, 2017 The smugglers box is the usual give away. This is different between LHD and rhd cars and only the very most thorough conversion will update it. The metal work is next to the vin so it takes a lot of unstitching to make it a proper rhd.lesser issues include the mirror positions (they are not symmetrical) and things like window switches (two switches on drivers side).the us indicators are a good sign it is converted LHD but not exclusive because other LHD markets had the same as rhd and some people retrofit the us indicators for reasons unknown. Think I might end up getting a boxster and avoid the 911 minefield ?that's crazy talk! Cars And Coffee Byron Bay and Peter M
