Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

It's not a CS Doug... Look at the ad again.

ad says:

Rare Low Kilometres 1994 968 CS Comfort Model

Not sure there is such a thing?  Ad goes on to say 968 Sport.  Does that mean a UK spec sport rather than clubsport?

well it's a little convoluted, but one things for certain, why would you mention M030 suspension? If you have an M030 car, you have a Clubsport.

I have seen 4 seater CS 968's, they're rare..hell I should have bought that one last year but I'm an idiot ?

Someone get to ten bottom of it!

$50k is chump change for a CS.

Cheap for a 968CS in the current market but doesn't present well - appears a bit rough, dull paint etc?  Or just crap preparation and photos?

If the servicing is up to date this might be good buying with all the goodies it comes with. As for the paint, it's a bit hard to tell from the photo's if it's the light or it's been polished with a scouring pad.

been a favourite car for years. Never thought he'd sell it. Done a fair bit of drag and other stuff. But a rare cool car, made more so by the 2.4 innit... Don't like 914's ... But still like ugly beautiful ...

a new benchmark for a 928 S4?

1989 low 93,000 km's example $75K

They can but try..... but if you cannot get $75k for a similar km GTS, then I say it is extremely hopeful. I do like the steering wheel!

$120k GTS has had $15k price drop.....

Looks like a nice car, but I'm not so sure speculative pricing by one ambitious vendor equals a 'benchmark'.  One deluded purchaser paying that price wouldn't convince me that is where the market is at either for that matter...

The difference between those 2 928 S4's is huge. While I think $75k is silly money, it has to be worth a significant premium over the white car. It's in pretty impressive condition, inside, out and under the bonnet. The interior looks close to new. If the white car is worth $40k, surely the other one has to be $60k based on condition and mileage??

I am not sure what you are basing the "huge" difference on? Both engine bays look very similar, the white one has paint flaking off the brace (very common) and the grey one has a wonky wiper panel (again very common), other than that both look very good. The one interior shot of the white one shows up nothing bad. both appear to have scratch and dent free bodies. The white one looks to have had more maintenance and $$$ lavished on it. It does have double the km, but so? It could be worth $40k, most good ones seem to go for between $30k and $40k, I do not see enough (any) diff to justify $75k for the 89 model.

For $75k this has to be considered a relative bargain..... http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-928-1993/SSE-AD-3539245/?Cr=9

For my money (if I was going to) I would start here and then throw the right wheels on it http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-928-1988/SSE-AD-4208195/?Cr=4

Either way that is a big pile of after tax cash - that money buys a lot of car.

I am not sure why we all keep talking up the values - does it make us feel better, having regard to what is sitting in the garage?  It is a bit like using CTS prices to price the market, right?

I recall seeing a 380SL for sale on a well known site a while ago...the price was steep and it didn't budge - was for sale for more than 3 years.  It was a non- disclosed HK import with no recent servicing.  Did the advertised price indicate the market!?  Who knows - I offer no comment as I don't know what it ultimately sold for.

I fear all it does is encourage silly prices being asked by unrealistic vendors.  There are a few cars worth a premium, sure, but average cars are worth average prices...my 2c... :)
