They are known for larger than average 911 panel gaps 

Indeed , 'they all do that Sir" - in fact the 924 panels were designed for easy post accident replacement (as opposed to panel beating) ; much easier to fit them with large pre-existing gaps!
944s are the same.

That said, even my $3000 gumtree gravel banger lines up better than that one looks in the pics...

And could be the lighting but it even looks like there is a bend in the badge panel near the inner corner of the light cover.

However the link now comes up as "car no longer available" :huh:

The ebay 924... 77 model is prior to full galvanising and the standard 4 speed box is too buzzy on the highway. My first Porsche was a '77 924, the cabin noise at 100km/hr was my main reason in selling (plus a certain red 924 turbo found my garage very comfortable).

Thinking a cheap 924 with a 5 speed box might be a fun car to fix up if not too far gone. I really should finish my current engine rebuild first though.

It's not just the size of the gaps, it's that the panels don't even line up flush. No Porsche would ever come out of the factory with panels that badly misaligned, even at Neckarsulm.

I've been thinking about the Gosford 924. If it is an Australian delivered version, I think it is quite good buying at $15k. Looks very honest and relativley clean. Being an '82 model as well, it's a little different to the standard 924 turbo.  Has anyone seen it in the flesh?

15k? Really? No history no records and for those that thinks it matters no books... did I say no service records and not registered and no idea when it was ... BUT it's mocha ? 

So yes not red. Likeable but rough rascal.

Thiugh 15k would have bought a log booked with records silver turbo early Dec. 108,000kms

Though been one of so few delivered here it's still cool and desired...

If it has no service history at all then I agree $15k may be on the higher side. My comment about 'Australian delivered' was meant to infer some history, I admit that I didn't look to see if it did have history.

For me the positives is it is an 82 model which had small improvements over the 81 model and are rarely seen. Looks as if it has air conditioning (well at least some of an A/C system). My 911 is brown (Admittedly not mocha) which has grown on my over time so to me the colour isn't a negative.

As far as the car being a little rough.. in some ways I don't dislike a car being a little rough ... prefer that than poorly improved or a perfectly painted pig.

That was one hell of a car ...... probably better than when new. Wouldn't pay $75k though .....

Speaking of restorations, does anyone know of a RHD 924 Turbo being wrecked for parts?

I need some fuel lines that are Turbo specific and are different on LHD cars. 

Any leads would be appreciated .....

Dreamt. Are you chasing the fuel lines under the bonnet or ones elsewhere in the car? I don't have any of either however I am currently redoing my under bonnet ones and may be able to give you some suggestions.

Re my 911's colour.. need go recheck the paint sticker however it was something like palender brown. It was a colour issued for two years around 1981.

Hey bear,

I have found that someone, somewhere has relocated the fuel filter and removed the lines and totally re-routed them.

I am after the fuel line that runs from the top of the CIS pump to the fuel filter, and the other fuel line that runs from the other side of the filter in a large "U" type shape and exits through the battery bay and connects to the pipe running under the car ...... 

Any type of help / suggestions would be appreciated .....

R.e the fuel line and return in the bay to the left of the block from the filer, used fuel lines are likely going to be shagged - they all seem to be. 30 years of heat cycles and the elements has corroded and cracked them.

I am trying to get us an alternative that looks semi-stock. Replacing them with remanufactured lines is easy but they will look out of place and bulky. My mechanic is convinced that with the help of a guy in Dandenong Vic who specialises in fuel systems we can maybe get something close - but it's probably a month away. 

We also need to pound on Porsche classic. They do respond if enough people approach them, they certainly responded in regards to a number of 928 parts that they started to remanufacture.

Please keep me in the loop ..... I haven't even got the originals to get new ones made up. They are completely missing.

If I can find some used ones in the mean time, I'll try them as i really want to return it to stock set up. The rerouted ones are running in front of the radiator and have the fuel filter mounted under the coolant tank ....  :blink:
