withers Posted 30July, 2017 Report Share Posted 30July, 2017 Want a personalised watch built just for you? Thats very nice!Since my last post here I'm now wearing a Rolex Sub No Date 114060 and have a Panerai 372. Both iconic pieces to each brand. The rolex is like a bloody tank. I've worn it non stop since I got it 3 weeks ago, even tripped on the curb fell and broke my nose wearing it - not a mark on it (blood some how got all over it) you can micro adjust the clasp to fit as your wrist expands during the day. I've had a few watches, and this 114060 really is a tank!I must say tho, I'd like another Speedy. When I think of a watch collection, I think of the staples from each brand LeeM

withers Posted 30July, 2017 Report Share Posted 30July, 2017 (edited) Ugh! Would love a Panerai, but I do need to eat They've gotten pretty silly as far as prices go. I'm not sure they are necessarily worth the asking price compared to many other brands at the same price point. If you ever do take the leap. I'd always say go for a Base model. 000 or a 112 with the bullet proof ETA movement. Just classic quintessential Panerai! No date window or cyclops keeps the dial really balanced.Apart from a Cheap Casio and Seiko I wear when I'm going near the water my current collection are these - Seiko SARB065, IWC Mark XVI and a JLC Ultra Thin MoonHave been really trying to stop myself pulling the trigger on one of these though, I sort of feel like everyone has Speedy's and one of these vintage Seiko 6138-8020 "Panda" dials is under the radar and vintage cool. withers and LeeM

The Reverso would be a wonderful addition to your collection. Or a Master Control of some sort too - or how about a Calatrava? Yes a 14060M and 5513. The GMT on the left (black bezel) is a 16710 and the Pepsi is an A serial 16700 with lugged holes case (GMT with the quick date function not GMT II) I hadn't thought about a Calatrava, very nice watch - you've given me something to think about now! withers

Yes! a PP Calatrava would suit. Or even a JLC master control or master ultra thin. I actually went to the Nomos Glashutte popup store by Monards this weekend. They've got some nice affordable? watches. But may have found my next purchase. The Zurich Weltzeit. It's such a nice world timer GMT and cheap too for an inhouse movement. I had a few photos on my instagram. Someone overheard me talking about the Zenith pilots Extra special that it didn't fit my wrist. he pulls his off his wrist and insisted me to try again. Still to big Edited 7August, 2017 by Pauly

withers Posted 6September, 2017 Report Share Posted 6September, 2017 Love the Bronze Zenith Pilot BUT I have seen one snap a lug off it. Guy dropped it and BAM, lug snapped clean off the case. Kinda put me off. He did get a refund, but still.. nasty.Love NOMOS, that world timer is just superb.. love the Metro too. Tips Posted 18September, 2017 Report Share Posted 18September, 2017 Quick question on Breitling for the watch guys and gals. Having an aircraft background I have always liked navitimers and thinking of adding a vintage one to the collection. I don't see that many older ones around for sale and have the opportunity to pick up a 1969 cosmonaute black dial and bezel in great condition on a crocodile strap. Papers but no box.I would Interested in people's thoughts of price point and collectibility.
KGB Posted 19September, 2017 Report Share Posted 19September, 2017 I had an early 90's Navitimer, no one had seen one in Oz at the time, exotica. It was a POS, kept breaking down and needing attention. Bought new. Recouped what I paid for it 6-7 years later. I believe movements have changed since. NFI about earlier versions. BUT, I feel so much better after my Breitling rant... Tips
tk111 Posted 23September, 2017 Report Share Posted 23September, 2017 Some questions for the Watch Aficionados,Some background, I have been given a very nice TAG (WAP2010.BA0830) by a family member as a thank you for helping them out. The understanding is that I will be selling it as I already have a nice watch that has strong sentimental value to me, mine may not have as much fiscal value but that's not relevant. The one I want to sell is in good condition in original box with extra links. I plan to have the band cleaned by a local watch specialist.Questions:Is EBay the goto place, or is there a specific marketplace that those in the know would go to?Being an automatic, does it matter if it is not currently being used?Should I have it serviced, or is this better left alone? Thanks in advanceTerry

Chrono24 would be the better place to sell. that's a "watch ebay" sort of thing. NopeDepends how old it is. usually every 3 years is recommended. but if you don't wear it much, it'll be fine. tk111
