Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

Recommended Posts

you mean one has , maybe the dudes flying high ;) or did i miss something?

so cynical.  The ad says it will appreciate significantly in the next 10 years so that means $195k is cheap...?

What are people's thoughts on this Boxster. Seems decent price for age (2013) but with higher K's (78k).

I'm a recent convert to mid engine (oh the balance and handling ?) and that's a bloody cheap entry to the party.  I'm quite surprised to say that, since buying a GT4, my Carsales musings have virtually stopped.  I've owned a lot of cars of various types but this is the first time my current mistress has satisfied my every desire and I've not felt the urge to search "carTinder" for something better.  I've never had a car that fits the bill quite like this one.

Boxster plus exhaust = wind in the hair GT4-lite methinks.  DO IT!

Just wondering if anyone on here has had a close look at this car, any info, know the owner, why hasn't it sold?

price aside how many 2.7s come up for sale that are not butchered virtually none

that's good pre 73 money which are desirable. This is a lovely example but $100k min over priced, 2.7's not well thought of & nor rare or sought after. Seems it's the hotrod/custom car thing, spend $xxx and expect to get at least $xxx back. Reality is spend $xxx may get $xx back unless it's a very special & desirable model. Very good looking car though.

I agree, it looks spot on, but 100k over. Anyone remember the yellow 74 that  Scuderia were trying to sell during the 2015 bubble for 100k? It sat on carsales for about a year and it was imaculate

you both kidding yourselves if you think a completely restored 2.7 is not worth 100 but keep telling yourselves that i know you wont be convinced. cts sold restored bright blue 2.7 targa which is far from a desireable configuration for around 120 and that yellow coup was not restored or pucker so you cant compare it to a full restored car.

I'm still confused as to why 2.7's are worth anything near 100k. Without being disrespectful, they are the bottom of the air-cooled 911 tree. Not long ago the best Aussie delivered cars were in the low 30's and difficult to sell. SC's at the time were in the 40's for good cars. They have always been 25% less than SC's. A very good SC in todays market should be around $75-90k  (sale price, not advertised). This puts 2.7's at $55-70k. There's a few 2.7's that have been sitting above this figure for more than a while.

Now the 'air-cooled frenzy' has slowed down, these will be the first cars to have a price reality check.

A fully restored car it might be, and from what I am told it is an unbelievable thing of beauty, yet $195k for a 2.7 IB car? I'm not saying it's worth $100k less, as very nice 3.0 SC's go for $100-120k, yet that's a LOT of money for a 77. Still, someone will probably buy it if they have to have the best available

55-70 you obviously dont really know what stuff sells for outside of the bottom of the pile carsales listings by the sounds of it

I wonder what the caryard paid for this 911 (is consignment still illegal in Vic.)? Possibly half the price they are asking.

I just dont think there are many wealthy  &/or enthusiast potential buyers, even for something this nice. There are reports of chinese 'businessmen' with lots of funny money now buying classics - however I reckon they would want LHD cars to show off to their mates.

That asking price is a lot of money to hide from your wife, accountant or the taxman. it will be entertaining to watch its journey to a new owner.

I would think in this case it's not being priced as a 2nd hand 2.7 .... it's priced as a brand new car. Surely there would have to be $70k - $100k of work to get it to that standard ...

A 924 Turbo recently sold in the UK that had been torn down and reassembled just like this car was. It was part of a competition amongst Porsche dealerships .... it sold for about £50,000 (circa $75k) .... not in any world could I have imagined a 924 Turbo being worth that, selling for that, or even being offered for that, yet after seeing the finished product (in photos only) it didn't throw me for a six .... I would have loved to have that car ...

BTW .... it wasn't too long ago that 912's were the bottom of the air cooled tree, after that it was the longhoods, then it was the SC's, then it was anything that had a Targa or convertible top, etc .... I think just about every version of Porsche at one time or another was the unwanted love child.... don't even start me on the water cooled ...

The best Carrera 3 in the world isn't $195k, it's still a 1977 2.7!

There's a 1977 2.7 for sale in Europe in as new condition from a collection with 4000 odd miles on it.. It's been on the market for a little while at 99,000 pounds. I would think that's a high water, bench mark price.

Seems like a bargain, $110k for LHD, non original body, non original engine, no interior, unregistered  and hasn't run from 12 years.  Other than that, it's a steal.  Oh and the original roof comes with it ?

Mr Great Race

could you provide the prices achieved on all recents sales of early Porsche 911 cars?

Seems you are an authority on the subject & have the inside info on what everthing is worth & sells for.

We all look forward to you sharing this amazing gift with all of us.

I'd be getting another opinion from a respected 996 specialist. Really sick if there's oil in the water or vice versa or could just be a little bit of neglect/underuse, resulting in sticky lifter and AOS or coolant tank leak.
