Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

Recommended Posts

its got funny LED lights... pretty sure they are a motorcycle light!?!?

Apparently not the original colour and not an offical porsche colour either.. it's been tinted and modified etc.

However, from the photos, looks a lovely car.

Mike,.do you know this car? Which lights are LEDs. The rear look like standard US delivered covers.

I've always wondered what people who own a Porsche, do for a job...

lotto winners?

high paid execs?

drug dealers?

scrimping and saving?

I've always dreamed of owning a newish 911 but a couple of hundred grand is still a third of a house for me...

In civilised countries the people who buy Porsches are merely those with decent incomes. In tax-it,tax-it,and-regulate-it land, you need to be a successful business owner, celebrity or trust fund kiddie to cross the dealer threshold and sign away multiple hundreds of K on a fast depreciating piece of machinery. Heck, in some of those places a house to live in doesn't cost high multiples of your income and leaves even more left over for buying stuff like cars.

The lucky sperm club favours some in established family businesses , a few owners (mostly lessees) are successful entrepreneurs riding the boom-bust rollercoaster,  celebrities (including sportspeople - basically in the entertainment industry) and then there are a few subspecialised surgeons and dentists in the mix.

"Scrimping & saving" might work until the first tyre or service bill comes in. As has been noted , there is a price and a value with these luxury goods.

I was imagining a more elaborate story that involved 'underbelly' scandal and large explosions..............your suggestion is probably more accurate though.   ;)

Risk takers make up a good percentage, the rest are either enthusiasts or insanely wealthy. You've got to have big brass balls or very deep pockets to say goodbye to $200k in 3 years on a car. Everyone has a different pain threshold I guess.

But you see thats why you cannot rationalise the decision to purchase new................ If I could sell assets and live in cars I would :) Not realistic and I do prefer marriage over cars
