This arrived today and I am a little unsure I have mixed feelings .

The car looks amazing, driving position and ergonomics are fantastic, the LWB seats are comfortable, I will get the adjusters for more rake .
100% need bolster protectors.
Started it up and I thought it lacked a bit of noise. I can see why people opt for a shark worx

Driving off I thought it's very compliant over bumps no different to my 997 Pdk turbo. Quite comfortable and not near as stiff as I thought . Considering this was to be a weekend only ca I was a bit disappointed as it could easily be a daily .
I also thought the bottom end torque is not that great, off the line it's not at all a ballsy torque based engine. So around town it's an easy drive . I was hoping for a bit of a difficult car to drive with a heap of power , as in be careful with the power. Though really no need .

I would say the gears are to tall . when you get up in the rev range 1500 to 4000 equals nowhere . 5000-7000 is good torque from 7000 revs to 9000 the thing screams though lacks torque just screams , the down side is you are going too fast for the street. I found some back roads and gave it some and I found that the gears are a too tall , so 1st gear 100 kms second gear probably doing 160 kms per hour, so it's hard to use the motor wilth full range on the street .

Build quality is excellent and the car looks good.

My history with cars are mainly V8's or TT pDK so this one is not quite what I was expecting. It is a manual and the box is nice clutch is light and steering is good, direct . Car is planted .
Off tigh corners it will step out a bit .

Now I am of the belief warm the car up and then drive it so It been belted from 25kms on the clock . It free's up the engine. Car was too boring under 4000 revs.

Conclusion is , I need to spend more time in the car to make it work for me. So far I am a little disappointed however I can see why others love it. The cars looks fantastic and I love my options painted interior  in black with full leather and LWB'a look fantasic

Anyway thanks for reading .

Looks to me like a lack of understanding of the differance between a 4L NA and a 3.8L Turbo. While they both might have similar power the RPM at which that power is delivered is very different. This is well known and should not come as a surprise. Fact is that at 8000rpm it is delivering similar torque to the tarmac as the TT PDK.

Stiff suspension is how the ignorant achieve better handling. Fortunately these days the cleaver people at Porsche have worked out how to have a compliant suspension  while still delivering brillant handling. This usually results in faster lap times than the stiff suspension cars could ever dream of. If you want a crappy ride just lock the shocks (and call a therapist).

Sounds like the car failed to meet some of your expectations but in this case I have to say your expectations don't make much sense to me.?

My car apparently been born two days ago. No vin# as yet.   Im thinking April ?  Does this add up for anyone else who knew their production completion date and then how long it took to get to dealer ?

Thanks for your support and understanding in OS threads, seems that some critisism of these cars do not go down to well, no matter how well founded it is.

your NS2 render looks amazing and I'll be keen to see the final result .

they are doing something for me on a much more simple level. I had side stripes in matte black to add on however at this stage I love the car bare.

I think my car was Built end of November and car was at the dealer 27th January

so best case I would say 2 full months from now so mid April will be an eta .

Anyway the car is becoming more enjoyable each drive as I am appreciating it a bit more . Chassis dynamics gearbox feel ( clunk into gear)  is epic clutch is effortless and seats and interior is unbelievable. It just fits me . I have to add the angle adjusters for perfection however it's close very close now .

Noisy and stiff Is what you want?  Flip it for a profit and go buy a 996.1 GT3 for $250k less ?

Or fancy a swap for a GT4?  I'd be happy to comfortably cruise around in this for a while.

My car was built almost a full month before the others delivered with it, even the dealer didn't know why It took so long. Build date was 22 Nov. Delivery was 31st January. Obviously it got lost in customs for a week but that still doesn't explain it.

By the way, I cracked today, got the car nice and warm, took it to 8500 revs. Yeah, not going to be selling this car in a hurry.

It's similar to the "competition" in the seinfield series . I cracked after 2 kms and a warmed up engine . I had no self discipline what so ever.

Kimd of Kramer'd it ;)

once you get the VIN you can track the ship .. .cruel and unusual punishment most will not understand. The boat your car gets on will impact delivery timeline.  Mine only waited a few days to get on a boat, others have waited a week or so,

Yes I remember 22nd as mine was supposed to be similar being locked in October, then the Sans wing must have confused the germans, as then the build went haywire.. But according to the computer, its got dates beside production completion now 18/02 ..

Personal plates turned up finally as well.   A62435 ...   couldn't get 162435 ...

Is your vin searchable via ship tracking or something ? Hows that work ?

Sounds like all you really needed was an old base spec Boxster 2.5 5 speed where the fun happens at 0-150kph.

Might be more fun wringing it’s neck at 110% than driving a brand new GT3 around in the streets at 10%....

Being a car built to smash the Nurburgring, I’m thinking the GT3 fun zone is more in the 150-300kph range.

You should start "Trev's Boxsters", a dealer specialising in 2.5s, you've got all the marketing sorted ??? I'll be offering you a swap next.  And you'll probably refuse because the 986 2.5 is the SMT sweet spot.

It looks like they have updated the page by try puting your VIN in the Bill of Lading Number

https://www.2wglobal.com/webapps?frameId=151834634687367974&url=https%3A%2F%2Fatt.2wglobal.com%2Fgstattweb%2Focean.do%3Fmethod%3DgetDefaultOceanQuickSearchPage

Once you have your ship name, go here: https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-12.0/centery:25.0/zoom:4  then click on the search icon (magnifying glass) and enter your ship.  Repeat for weeks on end ... mine arrived at dock within 20 hours of the schedule after looking to be heading here early.  Pretty sure they just slow down close to shore to annoy us.

My car went in for Xpel today - also noticed my cupholders are broken - from the factory! So once I get it back from the Xpel I'll have to take it back to Porsche. Bummer.

Frustrating. Could you share who in Sydney you're using for the Xpel? Thinking of having it done soon too.

Sounds like mine will have a twin.

Did a long trip yesterday - I have found my first issue with the car ..... they attract and consume bugs at an alarming rate.  I thought last weekend was an anomaly due to the location I went.  The exact same thing happened again this weekend, the front grills were covered in bugs - they especially get caught in the corners of the black extensions / brake ducts.  Picking out crispy dead bugs is not fun.  I think I am going to have to work out how to drop the front undertray to clean it properly.

Small price.

Sure, I had to ring around in the end. Either couldn't get people to pick up the phone, or couldn't get in. Ended up going with Sydney Premium Detailing in Castle Hill. There are only 3 authorised installers in Sydney, and one of them doesn't answer the phone, or return phone calls. Doesn't leave you with a lot of options.

Please head to your nearest racetrack, then you will understand it.

They same the same about Mercedes G wagen, you need to drive it off-road to understand it... own/owned both and can tell you both assertions are correct.

Sexy cars these 991.2's
