withers Posted 6July, 2013 Report Share Posted 6July, 2013 Today I had this attended to - before shot courtesy of the previous owner And after shot thanks to Barnets on Macaulay Road who washed and buffed out a few small marks for me and they didn't charge me a cent (they fixed my SLK bumper when it got backed into) excellent service by Barnets! Obviously there's a chunk of paint missing but I'm not respraying the car to fix that bit. At some point i'll investigate a good detailer than specialises in fixing these types of paint issues and get them to fix it up. For now tho, I'm happy with the car as it is. I don't see the need to repaint it.. when I just want a clean, reliable and fun machine to own!
Russ Posted 7July, 2013 Report Share Posted 7July, 2013 Pulled apart the steering column and indicator to try and fix the issue of been having with both indicator globes coming up on the dash. Didn't fix it . But who know the black on the 'targa' script was the same as model train 'engine black' lol FlatSix

Greg944 Posted 7July, 2013 Report Share Posted 7July, 2013 Reconnected the reference sensor plug after it spat the metal clip off and become loose/disconnected coming on to the start/finish straight at Malalla! When the noise stops.... I will tell you all you can see is $$$$$$$ signs.. Fitted 16" phone dial wheels, I know they are not to everyone's taste, but I reckon they look better than Design 90s, especially in white on a red car. Crappy second hand R spec tyres are worth a slow speed spin and two tank slappers when cold and 3seconds a lap when warmed up. Greg
tazzieman Posted 7July, 2013 Report Share Posted 7July, 2013 Personally , and like many , I care not for the stock plastic horn pad on the 911/944 I put a Momo retro on the 911 (kept the old wheel for my super fund , it's in great condition ) With the 944 , I have so far done this , using a piece of zinc-titanium sheet which also saw service making new 911 floorboards to replace the factory plywood and bitumen effort. The horn button came with the retro wheel ; I used a Porsche emblem one on the 911. Tomorrow night I'll fettle the edges and cover it with a piece of thin padding & leather On another note , a big step forward for the old Landy was getting a guy to MIG weld a new rear crossmember up. I had to cut quite a few funky shaped pieces to fit the rusty metal removed. All done by the book. Now I can replace the tub and press on with the body rebuild and wiring. & btw , Go the Bombers! tazzieman Posted 10July, 2013 Report Share Posted 10July, 2013 Finished , happy with result. Retained stock spacers and used stock holes for mounting screws. Used vinyl to match door cards. I brought the (almost 30 years old but still VGC) leather back to as new using soap & water - dry - fine sand - dye - sealer - leather cream. I haven't seen anyone do this to a stock wheel , but I'm not filing a patent And I may go looking for a bellows-type boss cover...or not. tazzieman Posted 13July, 2013 Report Share Posted 13July, 2013 Fixed my 944 speedo - not the usual gear that was worn/broken , the main drive one was concaved. carefully pulled a donor cog off a 924 turbo unit - fits exactly. Fix was documented here http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=30882&sid=45df70459e75341dff8c832f4e8d8fe5 Now I have an odometer again. Cheaper than a km/hr used speedo off ebay , if you can find one FS... I may plonk $25 down on a BMW 2002 cog that looks like it might fit the 924 one. Because a working speedo is worth more than $25! Digital Mouth Posted 14July, 2013 Report Share Posted 14July, 2013 Wow so I discovered an interesting little fact today. People out here are buying 2nd hand gearboxes from this fellow in the UK for a 160 quid and selling them here for anything from $2500 to $6500 I tracked the guy down on EBAY and purchased one for myself looks like there's a fair bit of profit to be made in this. Norm Posted 14July, 2013 Report Share Posted 14July, 2013 Booked her in for some cosmetic work: Front bumper stone chips which had been touched up previously but unfortunately this touch up work was clearly visible. Had bumper resprayed. Rear skirt under rear bumper had a cut out for a second exhaust. New section fitted and painted. Rear bumper had an old Autohaus sticker on it. Sticker removed and bumper resprayed. Right skirt near rear wheel was somehow pushed in slightly. John was able to pull this out without any problems. And finally, all over cut and polish. Front windscreen leaking. Doesn't look like its rust and John was going to get a windscreen guy to inject some sealer in there. Apparently there is something in there which can dry up and shrink... We'll see the next time it rains. When I get her back ill give her a wax.

Yellowboxsters Posted 17July, 2013 Report Share Posted 17July, 2013 Spoke to the guys at Weltmeister about the possibility of getting a cargraphic muffler for the 02 Boxster S. Fingers crossed there's no drone and only glorious sound. Fingers crossed and hoping its what I've been hopeful for after the last 2 disappointing attempts
withers Posted 18July, 2013 Report Share Posted 18July, 2013 Well yesterday I was driving home after training and a pit stop to the supermarket. Then on the way home I thought my car had developed a new very annoying rattle.. sounded like the door trim ie leather on leather kind of rattle. Did I say annoying? Cos it was starting to drive me crazy. Opened and closed the door at the lights - still there! Pressed on the lid to the door pocket - still there! And then 15 mins into the drive home I realised it was the bag of dog food I put behind the drivers seat rubbing on the back of the seat! Put my hand behind, moved it and voila no more annoying rattle!!!! sigh - I was convinced something diabolical was going on phew it was just me being stupid! I do find the space behind the drivers seat handy - hey I'm only 5'4" a good place to pop a jacket or my bag rather than using the boot! Norm Posted 18July, 2013 Report Share Posted 18July, 2013 any pics Norm ? I'll get some shots up soon. I've got it at K-Tec getting some minor things done: Odometer and oil pressure gauge fixed. Original steering wheel and gear knob fitted. I'ts currently got a momo wheel and gear knob and I don't like them! It will be quite tidy when I get it back. The only other thing I'm going to do is look at getting the leather seats re-trimmed. Not that they need it but I'm trying to get it as clean as possible.
