Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

Recommended Posts

so what's the story there with the books?? It says has all receipt since it came to Aus? So anything prior to 2010 is not there ?? Would the resale value of the car be affected if the seller only has book in Australia only vs having all the history since birth for import?

Or it matters more for the most recent years of history assuming the car had been rebuilt?

Can tell it's a Japan car from the front indicators. Has it got an OXS or EXH light above the speedo? Can you post a pic of the rear seat?

Its Japan delivered as per the COA to Mitsuwa Motors in 76. It has the wrap over rear seat & the speedo has the red lines as most Jap cars do, the oxs light was from the SC onwards

didn't have anything prior to coming to me. I spent about $8k or $9k on the engine and gearbox. Plus receipts for electrical work, carpets, rubbers, etc

Thought I should chime in since we're talking about my targa, yes the price might seem steep but since I have had to spend a lot more on the car to make it reliable (quite a long list) ,the fact there isn't an air cooled 911 on car sales for under48k and that  car sales suggests 66k to sell. I'm sure as enthusiasts you all have seen the market so seeing a 911 for over 60k should not be a surprise  also price is negotionable.

At the moment, I'm looking for a regular air-breathing dragon but if I was on the hunt for a turbo, this 996 Turbo S might tempt me. Does anyone here recognise their car?

I've spoken with the seller. The vehicle is a three-owner, matching numbers example. Paint is not factory but applied by PCA on arrival in AUS. Hope that helps any interested parties.

Actually I like it , even though it is a traga. First the colour is green. That is good. It's a nice shade. Secondly , it's got honest patina. I'm not one to strip an antique back to the bare wood. That's just insensitive,  and nowadays may devalue a classic car. Thirdly,  it needs some TLC which is what I specialise in. Buying an all fixed up car is like , meh. The Fuchs are nice ; the only change I would make is replacing those sugary scoops.

There was a few posts about this car a few pages back.

I think the biggest issue was that the paint isn't original and just that alone would be enough for some buyers to cross off their list. It's funny .... it would be completely acceptable on an impact or pre-impact bumper car, but not, it seems, for a 996 ...

It would cost a bomb to put right and even then, some would still consider it "non original".
