Police in cammo near Hillsville

Recommended Posts

Been going on for years. Knew about such tactics being used up the Reefton Spur over the years, first time I've heard about it on the Black Spur...

Article from 2013.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/law-order/camouflage-cops-go-undercover-to-spring-speed-trap/news-story/f91b52902af0fc11967eaba16dbeaa34

Crazy the logic the cops use. Guy in the clip gets done for a quick and therefore safer overtake. Same with my brother last year coming back from the snow in his Triton! He overtook a driver on a straight as they were going well under the speed limit on the curves only to speed up to the speed limit on the straights... Cop argued that if my brother overtook at 104km/hr he wouldn't have booked him! How is that safe slowly crawling past rather than out and back in quickly!!??

It is not about safety and never has been. Only a fool would believe a single speed limit is appropiate for all conditions and all vehicles and all drivers. Ive lost count of the number of times I have seen Police travel at well over the limit no siren and no lights making them hypocrites.

I was driving on the Healesville road in a hire car when that happened, made the front page of the paper the following day.

I thought it was a bit crap, and underhanded and unsafe - then i felt better when i went home to Queensland and their 'hidden' speed camera vehicles

They've never been about road safety, it's about making money.

KaChing KaChing KaChing $600 and 8 months Pfffffft ....Go and get well and truly fuchen fuched legislators! and you can get well and truly as well Mr Plods, just doing your jobs I know, but you dont have to seem so happy about it..... He can pull over and take photos all he likes and wasn't "pulled over in the middle of the road"..... I hate this attitude to reasonable reason in this country these days. I was pinged on a straight just near there in 2008 (145ks on a bike on a fine sunny day - (own fault yes I know) I demanded to see the radar but it was 5klms back in the bush! Same setup and no'one had ever heard of this setup before - No complaints I guess and lost it for 3 months and a $100 fine - was reasonable I guess.

And as an aside, now 10 - 15 ks over earns you 3 points and $300 bucks - same as going through a red light! and about 99% less dangerous!!!! Got done wearing an unapproved helmet recently - Unapproved because no 5 tick sticker on the outside but it was stuck on the inside - work that one out! 3 points and $300, same as a redlight and absolutely 1000% not dangerous to anyone in any way including me. I'm challenging that one! GGGRRRRR

Traffic police selection criteria must be based on how well they are likley to toe the party line.

Promotion looks to be base solely on proven ability to toe the party line.

And to get to the top they must really be pleasing their party masters.

And it's only getting worse Raven - try this one ... Son's mate (27) lets his liscence lapse by not paying renewal and gets pulled up unliscensed. It says on the ticket "one can choose not to appear in court or can appear if one wants to". He decides not to appear as they are going to fine and suspend him anyway. Next thing he knows, police appear at his door a month after court date, very apologetic, with a warrant for his arrest for not appearing! They explain it's freakin ridiculous and happens all the time for this unliscenced scenario and the warrant is placed by the magistrate ... and all because "he wants to speak to him". The magistrate orders (within his powers) it and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it. So, down to the station, fingerprinted and mugshotted and tattoos photographed as well - all standard procedure for an arrest!!!!! Surprised they didn't freakin DNA sample him as well. No extra charges as he's done nothing wrong and a court date set for him to "See the judge" and have his fine and suspension handed to him! Do not get me started on big brother .....

What great timing.... I've just written a letter electing to have a speeding infringement heard in court.

Any advice?

Advice? Stay home. Polish your car and put your time to good use Reggie, unless it's rather extraordinary circumstances .....

Hidden cameras in the Adelaide hills. Camera's attached to old XD Ford and Hilux utes with plain clothed operators etc

I was onsite at a cop's house (star force sniper, great bloke), and even he said to me that it's only a revenue raiser, and went into detail about how much they have certain quota to raise cash per day etc. He was called in urgently, as there was a siege on, yet got a speeding fine and 3 points when a camera flashed him. Tried to challenge it in court with why he was speeding, only to have the (probably corrupt) judge throw it out and add court costs, plus his boss gave him a bollocking for 'Being a police officer, he should set an example' to put sting on the wound! You can imagine how animated he was when telling me that!

Top cops and politicians can say how they're NOT just for revenue, they're to stop the road toll, yet why is the road toll in every state increasing every year? I know there is more people on the road, but just stop the lying and own up.

Reckon I look at my speedo more than I do the road!

Every time I see these SH#T BAGS I give them a toot and a one fingered salute ............Apparently the vast majority of these mobile units in NSW are owned and paid for by the Macquarie  Bank ,,,they get a cut of the revenues along with RMS .........

Wish that they would put that much effort into catching home invaders and car jackers, oh that`s right there is no dollar value in actual police work.

@StevepGT3 mate, how accurate is that statement of yours - not sure what its going to take but my fear is that things will get far far worse before they can get better. Women and children are going to be killed en-mass before anyone will give a shit.

Im spending 90% of my time in Houston (Texas) these days and let me tell you, people think twice about car jacking because 30% of the drivers have a loaded Glock on the passenger seat - probably not the answer I know, but if some piece of shit tried to take my car with my kids in it, I would die stopping them

Not the same, I know, but recently had win over council for a parking fine...

I'd accidentally mis-typed my rego in the machine with the ticket expiring at 10am.  I stroll down the car at 10:05 after client meeting and find dreaded ticket on the windscreen thinking bugger me - he must've been sitting on it until 10 on the dot (ticket printed at 10.01).

I challenge it saying "mea culpa, wrong rego number - here's a copy".  Since ol' mate ticket issuer started the ticket process at 9:59 (timestamped photos) and I had paid parking at the time of ticket issue I got off :)

Their letter revoking the ticket said quite clearly "this is not a precedent, don't expect to get away with it another time..."

Some cops are pretty good though and it all comes down to attitude.  You give them attitude they'll reply accordingly, treat then as you would a normal person, and they can be very reasonable.  I got let off a recently, the offence resulting in a six months licence suspension but he wound it back and just gave me the fine..  Thank you sir.!

Come to think of it, I think that more than 50% of the  highway coppers that I've encountered have been lenient to some extent.

Play nice, 'yep, you got me, sorry officer' can go a long way.

According to this article, the sticker does NOT have to be on the outside.  Follow this up.  I've had a look and can't find anything specifically mentioning the mark needing to be on the outside.

You can get the AS1698 standard to cross reference from SAIglobal and check Point 8: Marking.

The word is traffic branch is not necessarily liked be the rest, probably for giving a bad reputation to police in general.

Wife and kids in car without me had a blowout on part of our lovely highways with no shoulder - nowhere to stop, but tyre shredded.  Pure luck plain clothes cop car was following and saw it, hit the lights and escorted to nearest exit, then changed the spare for her.  Maybe I shouldn't have fitted big ass wheels to the car if she can't lift them!  So decent police guy, parted with 'lucky for you I'm not traffic'

I agree the level of police/nanny state in Australia is out of control, whether it is high viz at the bar checking you dint buy a round of 4 drinks, cameras everywhere, getting hauled up in front of the thought police for posting a joke on social media, lack of legal ability to defend your property or family - it just goes on and on.   Then you have magistrates hauling good guys to court for helmet laws but slapping violent offenders on the wrist and releasing them because someone's daddy didn't love them etc.  Not to mention the bail magistrates letting lunatics out all the time and truly evil bastards getting shirt sentences which would have once led directly to the gallows.

i know a few cops - good people with good intentions and they are just as frustrated as the rest of us, especially with e catch and release business.

The yanks get a lot wrong and their police are like paramilitary units compared with ours, but they don't put up with anywhere near the nanny state rubbish that we have.

Was taking a short cut through an industrial area one Sunday morning back from getting a coffee, hung a left at a stop sign absolutely no traffic. Next miniute flashing lights and pulled over.  Young gestapo brown shirt breatherlises me then tells me I didn't fully stop. I agreed I may have rolled through at a very slow speed 10kmh however all safe no traffic not a danger to anyone. Response was 'but you broke the law sir you didn't stop.' He was hiding behind a parked car up the street watching the intersection, so not by chance he saw me. Double demerit weekend. It was all about the revenue/quota not saving lives that day ?
