Also a very nice looking, low km, Speed Yellow 996T on Facebook, but asking $200k 🙄 ...

Now on Carsales, still $199k ... Even more ambitious when the listing now shows the service book ... with services in 2008, 2014, then 2020 ... I'd be a bit worried about a car that had one service interrupting a 12 year stretch?! Also the video sounds like the lifters need replacing???

It didn’t do many km’s between services but they are meant to be serviced yearly. That would certainly stop me buying it.

Yeah I’d just like to know it was at least getting some oil and filter changes I think.

Something doesn't sound right. If it isn't the lifter, it could be a clogged oil passage somewhere.

I don't mind the lack of services as the owner might have changed the oil themselves but the noise doesn't inspire confidence that the car has been well maintained.

Serviced yearly with stamps.  Hmm. So I've been getting  my P dealer stamps all wrong on my watch and severely devalued my chances on a resale.  So you would expect 20 dealer stamps in my log book. Average of   3500km per stamp on my service book.  I challenge you to show me a 996 turbo service book that has less than 70k and has 20 porsche dealer stamps.

I think the challenge is trying to set a, shall we say, “significant”, new high water mark for pricing in a down market with 13 missing stamps?

I thought this got discussed here when it was listed but must have been in another thread. 997.2 PDK Turbo sold for $250k https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2010-porsche-911-997-2-turbo-3

Wherever that was posted someone responded 250+ re: price - bang on. Good to see these things coming back to earth.

That was on sale for nearly 18 mths on Carsales - the last listed price was maybe a few weeks ago at $268k. It initially started back in 2022 for $380K! Was also on consignment at Porsche Sydney South for a month or so for similar money 12 months ago.

Is there a buyer's premium on collecting cars? If so, it may have cost more to buy it this way vs carsales at $268k (assuming there was still room to move)

Yes  collecting cars buyer premium is 6.6% up to a max of $12,100.

So all the manual 996T's are sitting on Carsales at a bit of a spread of prices ... anyone know of recent sale that would help gauge the market value at the moment?

Legend @VGTS20 thanks.

Jumped out of my seat when I saw this listing … found out it’s a UK car and has the grey interior but sounds well look after and the price is sharp!

Pics should be up tomorrow.

JWM .. the market is in an interesting position, well priced cars are selling so buyer demand remains, higher priced cars are sitting or being put on hold as buyers reject price points, obviously depending on specification.

I also see in some areas the gap between 996 and 997 closing, which then raises the question is the 997 a better value proposition and vehicle longer term. the Winter hibernation might make it a little more interesting.

The above vehicle is in line with what you could pick up a UK vehicle for in the UK, plus adding forex costs, costs of shipment, duty, taxes, gst etc so I think its priced ok with a little more room for negotiation I would think.

best of luck with finding the right vehicle and enjoyable motoring.

If I'm not mistaken the 996 turbo is on the list of vehicles that can be imported under SEVs.

We are about a year and a bit away from the earliest 996 turbos (released circa September 2000) meeting the 25 year rule too.

Ps what has been sobering for me around 996/997 prices is looking at prices on NZ car sale sites.
