There are a few (3 maybe) on carsales too.

Hi,

You're spot on. I've checked the one at Five Dock and it was about an 8/10 with a small dent on the bonnet and a few marks (consistent with age) and no IMS retrofit. The black one at Lorbek I'm still considering. It's a 9/10 for condition and has the IMS retrofit, plenty of options but a personal import and has some condensation behind one of the headlights so figure new lights are around $3k a pair.

Another silver one in Melbourne I'm yet to look at.

The team at Duttons are following up with Jeff to see if the one mentioned by twoheads is still around.

Thanks for that. I'll jump on the phone and give them a call. Much appreciated.

Completely irrelevant as wrong country but I kicked the tyres on this one on the weekend.  They are definitely an acquired taste I think.  This one was a tip, I didn’t drive it.  Interior was very good for a 996.

It really is the most ‘un’ targa targa. Does any of the roof actually come off?

Hi, Easy either way as it won't get driven often.  More interested in the condition.

Targas don't often come up and usually a 10k premium over the usual C2 ...and as Tom says you wouldn't want to have to repair a roof $$$$ ..If showroom condition is paramount extend 10k and pick up the 29klm C2 at Lorbek - should be immac and priced about right if lowest ks are your thing - don't pop up to often with ks like that . Or if you just have to buy now, and 60k is your absolute max take a look at the blue auto C2 with 73klms in Qld for 43k, kick the tyres hard and pay 36 or 37k

I wonder how much the Targas actually sell for, as opposed to asking price?  My search seemed to bear out what a couple of specialist sales dealers said to me - Manual 996 coupes were the cheapest when they were new (add lots of extra $ for Tip, Targas and Cabs), but now it is the manual coupes that are valued the highest.  Targas didn't have a very good name with the dealers due to the expense of fixing the sliding roof if it failed as has been alluded to, so I took them off my search list mid way.  Having limited my search to Coupes i can't comment on the comparison to Cabs, as we already had our Boxster for open air motoring.

@Trimar666 I have to concur, there a few coupes out there with low/ lowish km for good $$. Also don't get caught up on low km, buy on condition! Also don't get too worried about the IMS, these cars are now approaching 15/ 20 years old... and it only ever affected a very small %

Now go on out and buy one, someone has to buy something eventually :)

We had a client arrive one day for one of our tours in a targa (big sunroof type).  While cool to see one I was a little disappointed at the size of the opening.  Seemed a bit of a waste (considering the complexity/cost factor) compared with the standard sunroof.  I seem to also recall reduced headroom...but not 100% sure of my memory there.

But the rear opening hatch is brilliant!

I'm just glad the add is lacking in pics, that way I can presume the interior is as rough as the engine and exterior. If the body was rust free, and the car was purchased for $4k, it might be a fun project..... or a huge head ache.

Just received a few interior pics. I'm going to sleep fine. It would take quite some $ and time to recover this one with interior, mechanicals and body all very average.

Notwithstanding, no doubt in x years time I'll kick my own ass for not getting it! (As I had to Years after passing on a beehive tail light 356 for $8500 because I thought it was over priced!)

NQR?  i.e. Bmw m3 20" CSL aftermarket knockoff rims on a 500k P car.

Did I get my maths right, circa 2  tanks of 98RON on average per year driving on average 80% of the time on boost .

What’s the white car lurking in Bobs garage (photo 12)......looks like he’s lifted the skirt slightly as a tease.

Paint cracked a bit on left rear, but I didn't have a good going over the car, but overall it presented nicely. Interior was that tan/cork that looked in good nick. Might be Petrol Blue (my cars original colour)

Decklid blemish thats hardly noticeable  (unless ya fussy)

Have passed on this one guys. Not right for me. Might be right for others. Both Richmonds and Buiks helped a great deal. Keep on looking ! And thanks @LeeM for your offers of help etc.
