Coastr Posted 29April, 2017 Report Share Posted 29April, 2017 Visited a dealer in San Francisco today...bit like cts I guess.big selection of Porsches from 356 to 991 gt3 and everything in between.1989 911 speedster - 10,000 miles. $209k1985 3.2 Carrera - excellent condition, 156k miles, $46k 1979 SC targa, 99k miles, sold already at $44k. Had a complete engine rebuild recently. List price was $45k. 1900 c4 manual, velvet red, 124k miles, $44,900 (same price as the sc!) 356 C , POA. Great condition, mild hot rod touchesalso not photographed arena red 993 c4s, 17k miles, $126kI rckon the black Carrera would be good buying, presuming the mechanicals are ok. 60k Aus, factor in ten k for shipping, you'd have it on the road for less than 75k. It was much tidier than anything I have seen at that price range in oz. Philbee, Mike-S, micknine01 and 2 others

Mike D'Silva Posted 8May, 2017 Report Share Posted 8May, 2017 (edited) RHD Carrera 3.0 only $40k USDhttps://showroom.windingroad.com/listings/product/2999/Probably not up to our fussy Australian standards, but I was surprised to see a RHD car for sale in the USA... LeeM Posted 8May, 2017 Report Share Posted 8May, 2017 Well that just opens another can of the proverbial. A UK car in the US that has to be imported into Oz! Cheap though, and a good looking car. I think the sale clincher would be that lovely steering wheel
Coastr Posted 9May, 2017 Report Share Posted 9May, 2017 Depending on condition that looks like quite good buying in the us. I think they would be negotiable - shifting a rhd there would be a lot more challenging than shifting a LHD here. Landed I think you'd be at about 70k Aus or thereabouts. Not bad buying at all. DJM Posted 9May, 2017 Report Share Posted 9May, 2017 Fascinating that so many people thought this sought of abomination was a good idea. The massive investment to create this is offset by an even bigger loss in value, a double whammy. would this ever have looked "good"? I had 911 posters on my wall as a kid in the 80s but never this shit. micknine01

Cars And Coffee Byron Bay Posted 10May, 2017 Report Share Posted 10May, 2017 oh wow.. I really didn't realise that (the bit about it being a later model car) the date that aus customs looks at is the build date where most of the work took place. It does not look at the underlying chassis, which is often a 1955 beetle.

It's more than a bit cheeky advertising it with a 1955 year of manufacture just because it looks remarkably similar to something a German manufacturer made in that year. LeeM Posted 17May, 2017 Report Share Posted 17May, 2017 As much as I am over the Magnus hype, you can't go past the guy that he is, an individual and a nice bloke who is passionate about Porsche's! If people have bought any of his cars at an inflated price just because it was owned by MW, does it really matter to you and I? Ofcourse not, yet there will always be the lovers and haters of his style of 911, who are ready to offer their expert analogy of how things should be done right in the world. I've had people give me s..t about putting meatballs on the doors, race seats, unoriginal Ronal wheels, too low (that I agree with lately), a cheap suede wheel instead of a Prototipo, blah blah, yet my usual response is that not everyone is an anal purist! Pretty sure I'd rather sit down with MW talking about 911's than someone who is hell bent on ensuring they have the period correct tyre valve cap! Live and let live I say Adrenalin62, symsy, Spets87 and 2 others
