the thing that grates me more than anything about traffic lights is the way people further back take off

the first car takes off

then the next car reacts and makes a space

then so on and so on

and not many people make it through!

the lights are up high so you idiots at the back know when to go too

Me too Russ, I hate that, no consideration for the drivers behind.

But also not too many drivers are looking forward the 4,5,6 cars ahead as one should be doing anticipating what is going to happen, well, I guess they can't, texting, applying makeup etc.

The people that sail past 10 kph above the 60 towards the red light then hit he brakes to come to a stop.

As you back off as soon as you see the red,off the accelerator and change to appropriate gear as you roll up to a green and sail effortlessly past them as they slam the right foot again to get ahead at the next red light.

Switch your thinking Mark. This is fun watching some dufus getting all stressed and worked up about getting passed while trying to go flat out.

Lighthearted vent

When an aged driver is doing 47.5 in a 60 zone, I get all frustrated when I can't pass her.

Then, when I finally get passed and calm down, 5km's up the road and having passed a few cars, nanna slow poke pulls up in the lane next to me.

I swear she glanced at me with a wry grin on her face with 'Cop that buddy' under her breath! I smile and admit defeat.

I hate that  :D

I sat on 100kmh going through a speed check site today and the reported speed was 92kmh.

I am upset that I could have been sitting with my needle in 110 for months now with no concern about being pinged.

On the upside, in was not as bad as I thought I was today :-D

That speed check on the Geelong fwy is BS. It showed 92 when I went thru at 88 on the GPS.

All the new cars are massively under in speedo readings, my Subaru and Mazda are both more like almost 10 kmh under at 100.

And re slow turn out lanes.... they never think they are slow... Why should they take the slow vehicle turn out? In their mind surely no one can go faster then them.

Wish I had a camera in the car, today I saw this car come out of the side street and block 2 lanes of traffic trying to turn right. But.. get this... he actually had a turning lane to put his car into on the center divide.. but no he didn't use the center divide, he just stuck his car right the middle of 2 lanes, sideways.

haha, if I didn't know better 'd say you have been driving around Carrum Downers.

Pull up in the middle of the street, get out, have a look.  rummage throrough.   Then decide to drive to the next pile.   Bugger the cars behind trying to get passed.

What's worse you give him a blast on the horn, and he waves back at you as though your his best mate.....

Bad drivers full stop... There are so many in Sydney! I'm sorry it's not cool to do 100kmh in a 50 zone... Or pull out on a main road cos you felt like you needed to go so badly that you came without a bees dick of t boning me.. And just the lack of driver etiquette!

Come up to Newcastle and drive around for a while edgy, we have the worst drivers, I don't mind driving in Sydney I find most are quite courteous.

Car salesmen who know nothing about the vehicle they are selling me, really?

Gee boys (and girls) a bit of homework would go a long way to helping you actually sell a car and me not walk away, it's pretty sad when I know more about the product than the salesperson, maybe you could study up a bit and not sit on your arse watching the tv in the lounge area when things are slow.

  • 2 weeks later...

Picture this.....Go into East Melbourne, today and park in Albert Street, at 11.50am to go and see my friendly dentist for a midday appointment.

Put $7.00 in the meter for two hours,....it is $3.20 per hour and it doesn't give change, so I gave it a tip of 60 cents.   As my wife and I are about to cross the road, I quickly punch in the car park number to be sure to be sure...and it shows 1 hour and 59 minutes left.

Finish the dentist at 12.45 or thereabouts...then off for a quick walk to the PETER MAC to grab a bite to eat at the cafeteria.   Then back to the car at 20 past 1.    A time of 1 and a half hours gone, so we have done it easy, should be half an hour on the meter.

NO NO NO....ticket under the windscreen for Expired Meter issued at 12.38pm.   That has been issued about 48 minutes after we paid for two hours.

I checked the meter before getting in the car to go home and sure enough EXPIRED.    Should have still had half an hour on it.

Spewin......Got home rang up, lovely lady tells me it is simple ..... hop on the website, put it in writing and submit it.

Did that, stated the story, pressed submit button... A little meter pops up, "time Expired"    Damn....went back did it all again.

Same thing again, time expired.

Now really spewin.....

Put it all in writing on the Mac, printed it off and it's now in the snail mail..    Be interesting to see what happens.   There are apparently sensors where I parked so that should help my case, but I have wasted over an hour of my life over this.

Things are crook when the Dentist has been the best part of the day so far...

Took on City Hall....and won.    Nice letter back yesterday saying they found no faults with the meter and no other complaints but due to the mitigating circumstances....theparking infringement notice will be withdrawn.

Hooray, gives me a bit of faith in the City Of Melbourne as well..

Sorry, I really need to get this out in public.

What is it with some business owners that try to cash in on any Porsche owner that want's any work done?

I recently had my rear brake rotors machined at a local brake repair mob at $44 a pair. All cool, fantastic job, great guy's to deal with and looked forward to going back there again due to their service.

Come's to today, I rang them to ask how much they would charge to machine the front rotors. 'What car is it mate?'  A Porsche 912. I had my rears done by you guys. 'Hang on a sec mate' (2 minute pause)

'$300 mate'

Me. I got 2 rears done for $44 a few weeks ago as it states on the sign on your counter, so what';s with the huge mark up?

' It's a Porsche mate, we have to use a special jig to machine them'

Me. Why didn't you charge me $300 last time then? That's total crap mate. That's what I call opportunism and a blatant rip off just because I own a Porsche! New one's are $270 a pair!

'Fair enough, Ok, bring them in and we'll do them for $100'

Me. How about no? click!!  Grrrrrrr!

I rang their opposition 3 streets away and told them theyre off a 912 Porsche, '$50 mate'! Thank you, seeya next Monday!

Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for anyone making a profit in their chosen field of expertise, it's how people stay open every day, yet as soon as you mention the word Porsche to any business that is car related, BOOM, up goes the price!

Whether one has a billion bucks in the bank, or just has the pleasure of owning a Porsche that they have worked hard for, like me, there';s no excuse for this kind of treatment from any business.

Lesson learned. Tell them it's a Commodore!

Thanks for listening
