Cheers!

I would have loved to pick and choose but from my learnings with the 911 and then the 260, you can't really afford to wait for the perfect one. I would have loved a turbo too but they're outside my range unfortunately.

I'm pretty stoked and can't wait until it's trucked back to Perth!

Here's an image from the Gumtree site, it's the only one I have;

Well she landed in Perth today but failed the licencing inspection. Bugger.

Needs work on the steering rack, bushes, headlights don't pop all the way up, wipers are too slow, indicators don't switch off automatically and the guy reckons fumes were coming in the cabin when the AC came on.

Where in Perth should I send it to have this done?

Parts wear out but the fun if driving it won't.

I'd start perhaps with a phone call or a visit to a Porsche dealership in Perth, go straight to the service department and have a chat to the guys in there, and get a quote on some of the key parts you might need whilst your at it.

If you've googled the after market Porsche mechanics in Perth a quick chat to the service guys should provide you an indication of who previously worked for Porsche and for how long as well as who has a good reputation, etc.

Lastly don't be put off in any way by the list, even after purchasing mine recently for a decent ask there's always a few things to do especially with 25-30 year old cars. But that's half the fun of it, we find stuff that needs replacing and bring new life back to it bit by bit, and learn along the way. It makes the driving experience IMHO just that more enjoyable :)

Thanks for all your support guys, it's really awesome.

Have booked it in for Monday at a Perth Porsche specialist - K Tech.

You're all correct about the 944, so much fun to drive. They rev out hard and cornering is heaps of fun. They're fast but not crazy fast that I'm likely to lose my licence straight away.

And given they're not worth a fortune, you can drive it around and not be pedantic about the paint etc.

Can't wait to get her sorted.

How does it compare to the 911 Port?

Well I need to be careful in what I say here, but I like it more than the 911, it does leave me wanting for more power & a little more grip, but the new wheels will get the grip sorted.

As far as power goes, I have been informed that a chip & a full sports exhaust will get me another 50hp, I think that will cover the power.

Just got the windows tinted, it looks sweet, I have to get spacers before I can fit the new wheels up, so I have just spent my meditation time cleaning & preening the little gem.

I will run off some more photos when she is set up.

An excellent attitude to have mate. Thats what owning these things is all about.....driving them!

I bought my 911 with exactly the same thoughts. Something you can drive and enjoy, without having to worry about it too much

It's why we're here mate, all helping and passing on what we have learned in our ownership.

Part of the fun of driving these 944's is learning how to drive them because they do lack some outright speed.

Get them on a 100k country road and they will keep up in the twisty's and the speed they don't have will come back in the corners with the handling they have, they also don't lack too much in the braking as well.

By no means a power machine until you add a turbo, i would definitely have another N/A to drive. After driving the turbo, and sure the power is awesome, but i have found after driving it spiritedly a couple of weeks ago on some twisty's, my first thoughts were that i wasn't getting as much feel from the car and the road through the steering wheel.

Now I'm no race car driver but that was my first impressions from the turbo, it was also a bit damp and i was surprised how much more grip i had as well compared to my old 86.

Definitely suspension and slightly better tyres would be the reason for this, I would still be enjoying my N/A if i still had it but knowing what I know now and after reading the information that Bruce Buchanan put up last week, i would've added suspension and sway bar upgrades to sort it a bit more.

Get out and drive.

I did the PCNSW Coff weekend, last weekend, & I can say without a doubt that in the corners the 944 will more than hold it own, & then some. I have found a guy that specializes in 944's & he said, suspension & brakes first. You will be able to carry more speed through the twisties than anyone. I did not buy the car for speed, or I would have looked for a turbo version.

There was a few times on the weekend where once I had gotten past guys, they could not stay on my tail for long in the corners. It's a great car & I am still learning how to drive it, to get the best from it. I purchased the car to enjoy & drive, lots & lots of Km's in really, & so far it is more than for-filling the task, & putting smiles on the whole family's faces.

I think it's the same car that Weltmeister Melbourne sold for about $26k Xmas '14.  Had a look at it then and it presented really well, other than a couple of paint blemishes (like bird dropping after spots).

Port,

Please post some interior pics as well.  I absolutely love these in white.  If I could have my way I'd find a white 944 or 968 & be happy as a pig in poop.

cheers,

Jason

Hi Jason

Took these today, not as clean as I would like, but I will continue to work at it.
