993 Turbo prices pushing the envelope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Seems this one is no longer available. Does anyone know if it sold or withdrawn from sale?

Maybe someone took my recomendation or they took my 190k offer.. I need a wednesday car :) Seriously not wishing to start a holy war , well maybe a little one , when you look at those cars at 200.. aginst 930's of any flavor, they present a major difference in performance , are A/C , very summer palatable (The air con does work) and wife/girlfriend comfortable to and really a cheap proposition of ownership.. they dont break.

the payback is longer if measured by instagram likes

I don't get these people who leave a car up for two years at a ridiculous price . . . what does it take to get these morons to say, "hmm . . . maybe I'm doing something wrong."  No BS, a couple of the 993TT are approaching the two year mark on Carsales.

If a decent 993 Turbo gets put on the market at a firm $275k I bet it would sell within two weeks.

Almost spot on Symsy. One or two caught a hyped fat wallet in the low to mid 3's at the height as 4 or 5 went off the market over the past coupla years. Incidentally, I sold mine around the mid 2's about two years back and a few months later a couple were advertised at high 2's, 2 more months low 3's, then a month later mid 3's and a couple tried to touch a 4. I know of one or two that took $260 or $270 9 months back.

I do think the ultimate comfort classic , with performance and reasonable costs of ownership.. as an owner I would always like to think they are more but a good car translates 250k everyday in my book, you can have my one owner car at 400k ;)   Its outperformed my two ex wives in giving goose bumps and  still makes me smile evn though its has a few very minor wrinkles and one to grow old with  ... ooh and the curves

Pushing the envelope -- over the cliff! First one I've seen in the 4's. Dealer must've read an ad from a year and half back (when a dealer merry go round of 3 x 993 turbos that were very high 3's moved between them a little and still sat and sat),  then pulled his bag of coke out and buzzed off into the next decade as he priced it. Looks to me like incorrect gauges, gear knob and pedals as well

Tech equipment gearknob ,  Wanker pedals , White dials could be factory .. shame about the sunroof , if 930's are more than 200k then TT gotta get 300+, makes the  white 260k car online at moment a bargain, maybe I should buy another

I think the silver one for 270k would be the pick at the moment. Surprised it's still there, although it has passed the magic 100km barrier

@James P  930 is my december pick of the older cars .. too ..

yes the silver one looks good , I wouldnt worry about the 100kms barrier

https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-911-1996/SSE-AD-4950215/?Cr=5  is nice

but the white car with the RS mods and less kms , is a great value proposition.. and maybe even flexible as the owner moving away..

They ride much better with the RS gear , havent heard the Fab speed

I'm going to have another look at these again later in the year.  Tossing up between a 993 TT or a 991 TTS.  Totally different cars, but if I got the 991 I'd in all likelihood get rid of the 996TT whereas the 993 is probably an addition as I don't think it's suited to the odd super sprint.

As you say, very different cars.  I thought about a 991 TTS too (or a 997 TTS, there was a good silver one for sale last month), but I was nervous that it would be a bit boring in Sydney.  The "modern" TTS is made for driving across Europe in the rain at 200 kph, not going at 40 kph in traffic on the Harbour Bridge.  I think it's a car that starts being fun at a speed that will get you in trouble.

993TT has a lot more potential for fun in typical Aussie driving conditions.

I'd use a 991 as a weekender and track car with the odd pass at WSID to lay down an ET and trap, sorted with a full Akra and a set of sport buckets would be perfect IMO as I've got a daily.

I think you are spot on that a 993TT would be lots more fun as far as usability on the roads and for the weekend runs.  The issue really comes down to if I want to part with my 996 or not, I worry that I'd miss the manual and semi-analog nature of it compared with the practicality of the 991 cars which would be faster round the track.  It doesn't make sense to me to have a 991 and my 996TT as I'd use either for the same purpose.

It'll be interesting to see the prices of the 993TTs, I think they are likely to stick in the late 200s for the foreseeable future for a nice example with low kms.  Whoever bought the black/black 98 model car out of QLD in 2014 that had 28k on it got themselves a good buy at 180-190k.
