However, I'm more than prepared to eat my hat because that's a lovely looking car there, Symsy! Got one I could buy? And very true about the hotrod - that's probably the right place! Was thinking more that none of the engine/transmission is close to what Porsche was offering in 1976 and wondering if that might be an issue - base 3.3L motor and G50 box is Porsche but different turbo, intercooler, etc. Apparently the guards are FG. But I don't have the experience to make a call on what can be achieved through a NSW club rego. To be 100% legal you would need an engineers certificate, which would not be a problem, but you could probably get it registered without if you had a sympathetic blue slip or historic assessor Bondiscwb

I guess it’s the usual whatever someone is willing to pay for it. I have To declare I have some skin in the game as I have a 964 3.8 RSR replica/tribute so the perceived value is of interest. Main difference is I have gone down the path of putting a RSR spec 3.8 in it as opposed to the turbo motor trying to stay closer to the genuine item and the rest of the build is higher spec from a technical aspect. I like the g50 in it. Personal view is this would be a better tribute with a 3.8 in it. The turbo motor with the RSR 3.8 bodywork makes it a bit of a mis match. But would be a fun thing to pedal. juzmister and hugh

Big 👍 on your YouTube channel. I’m still getting through the Porsche build and then on to the 240z and Alfarrari. Long way behind I know! I called Richmond today (interested in getting a wide body) and there is zero paperwork on the car other than the out of date rego. Nothing on when or who did the motor, body work etc. No history of any maintenance either. Quite a mystery. juzmister and MFX

They may be able to shed some light on the subject, or at least give you a starting point. Bondiscwb

Bondiscwb Posted 24April, 2020 Report Share Posted 24April, 2020 I like the look and the turbo is a bonus (but I'd be happy without it) and agree about the wheel @Mike D'Silva But with zero history, I'd be nervous about that engine but at the right price, this would be fun to have. So, what's that right price...? Mike D'Silva

3legs Posted 24April, 2020 Report Share Posted 24April, 2020 Buiks (independant Porsche specialist) is just up the road from Richmonds and I'm sure they would use their trade plates to get it there. (Didn't know Buiks was that close by to them) A car I once enquired on at Richmonds had been taken to Buiks for a PPI (not sure by whom), which the staff supplied me a copy. As for being nervous about it not having history, that would apply to any motor, NA or turbo. As has been suggested, leakdowns and compression will give you a pretty good idea but no guarantee. None of these older cars are as low maintenance as a New Camry. Need to adjust your mindsight and just accept it. If it's at a dealer, then they would have a dealer plate to drive it to ppi. Or the inspection shop would collect. All this stuff is not hard. It's all too easy to put up barriers to buying a car these days (I am guilty of it too sometimes). But then when the 'right' car comes up, guess what.. we all whinge that the price is too high.. and around and around we go. At least you've made my job easier for next time! Re the turbo - I'm happy with the extra power but it's not the principal thing I am looking for, namely a wide body that I can do a bit of spannering on. Agree that sometimes it's better just to bite the bullet and if the price was a bit lower (because I am trying to stick to a budget), I'd be prepared to do it and take the risk that I need to spend some more to get it right. Cheers! Mike D'Silva
