TwoHeadsTas Posted 20February, 2019 Report Share Posted 20February, 2019 New one just listed I think https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/Porsche-911-Carrera-2002/SSE-AD-5703032/?Cr=0 Given Koni's, IMS soln + 2nd set of wheel, this looks pretty good value!! dan_189 Posted 20February, 2019 Report Share Posted 20February, 2019 Silver on black is a win - when I was looking years ago most silver cars had metropole blue interiors

Does anyone know why Porsche changed from the early dual row to the single row in the late 90's and does the early dual row use smaller balls than the later single row? Interesting - was this Vas930, the moderator who resigned our Forum? I expect he would know his P cars inside out, so there might be a reason why the manual 996 is priced very competitively. DT Posted 20February, 2019 Report Share Posted 20February, 2019 Price drop on this one. Surprised it hasn't sold yet, looks immaculate and the 25k engine rebuild gotta be worth something. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/Porsche-911-Carrera-1998/OAG-AD-16757465/?Cr=

They just need to fix the wheel cap on the 4th wheel (that;s the anal part of me coming out....) Similar in price to the 2003 car in Queensland.... If it’s still around after I settle on a house next week I might be tempted to organise a biz trip to Adelaide and have a ganda, as it’s getting to a tempting price and although has k’s on its clock, the $25k freshen up engine work (not sure about suspension) could be a tipping point vs some of the others for sale with around 130-150kms on the clock 🤪

Interior and exterior looked quite neat, and presume most of the $25k was on engine internals which I wouldn't have been able to see. I didn't discuss it much as I was just walking around looking.... LeeM Posted 21February, 2019 Report Share Posted 21February, 2019 @Tips I have tomorrow off if you want me to try and take it for a spin? I know Carlo there, as he's sold a couple of cars on my recommendation to buyers. And just to let people know I don't make anything out of it, just helping interstate people out with a car they might be keen on 👍 firstone, Tips, Troubleshooter and 3 others

The seller is saying it's a 3,6 ltr engine but the auto fill on the ad is obviously saying 3.4 ltr, re-sleeved if that is even possible on that engine? DT Posted 21February, 2019 Report Share Posted 21February, 2019 Looks to still be cable throttle. I reckon the 3.6 reference is likely a typo. KeyboardWarrior77
Jim45 Posted 21February, 2019 Report Share Posted 21February, 2019 It would be nice power wise but im assuming originality wins in the end especially on what looks like an unmolested one. They do quote 3.6 hp numbers as well though. Fresh engine is a massive plus - wonder if all the other bits and bobs are done? If so someone should be all over this. Trade an 04 for a 98...... TINGY Posted 21February, 2019 Report Share Posted 21February, 2019 It would want to be perfect for that money, just my opinion, yep, i get the rebuild but you can't drive a car without an engine.

Troubleshooter Posted 21February, 2019 Report Share Posted 21February, 2019 My thoughts are it's a 3.6 so non matching numbers and that's what's held up a sale but still, with $25k worth of full rebuilt engine, that offsets the non matching penalty by plenty. That's my thinking too. If you're willing to forego the matching numbers/future sale thing it's a good car. Think I recall a small wear mark on the drivers seat, but otherwise it's nice inside and overall. Troubleshooter
