Waso Posted 19October, 2023 Report Share Posted 19October, 2023 $750K for a modified 964...what am I missing here? Gawking aside, realistically what would the build cost be for something like this? The.nut.plug

LeeM Posted 19October, 2023 Report Share Posted 19October, 2023 Tell me where in the hell has more than 750 grand been spent? Was every part, nut n bolt hand turned titanium by Willy Wonka and 48 Oompa Loompa's using a nuclear powered lathe? It's taking the piss with the asking price as it is for a 964, and I don't care how 'bespoke' it is 🙄 KeyboardWarrior77, Philbee, Mike-S and 1 other

micknine01 Posted 19October, 2023 Report Share Posted 19October, 2023 Wasn’t that 964 for sale at chrome temple a couple of years back? From memory it was high 2’s or 3’s and PFA didn’t react favourably to the pricing at that point either 😆 tomo

Big ask no doubt, but it no doubt has had plenty of serious Sydney specialist folding thrown at it. Potentially 964 RS money but looks to be a lot more car than a stock RS. My guess is that's been a key basis for the valuation. Or, being Sydney, someone wanting a Singer esk performance package without the full wealthy retard looks - I mean that in the nicest possible Melbourne way. cafe_racer and Bondiscwb 1

on_booost Posted 20October, 2023 Report Share Posted 20October, 2023 I'm pretty sure i know the car and the build. If it is the one (pics are small) i can assure you that the build cost was more than current asking...... I "thought" it got sold pre covid for around $550 ish...... Riddle me this Batman.... what is the consensus of the 2023 cost of a show quality rotisserie paint job worth??? After its already been pulled down and on a stand....??? Ohh - on an a/c 911....? And there my dear sir is the issue..... You only know what you've got AFTER you've committed to the task..... Then you end up: in for a penny, in for a pound or in this case........if you're lucky, its $100K. I have a mate that does private work and hires booths to paint things (car (s), parts (s), bikes = all sorts of stuff) and he tells ,me that the cost of consumables for a proper job start to finish (not including paint, hi fill/flow coat, undercoat ) has more than quadrupled in the past 3 years.... You'd be honestly surprised how much: Sandpaper and Sanding Blocks Tape, tape and more tape. Plastic/paper for masking. Thinners, prepsol, cloths, filters, masks, activator, soface, filler(s), blades etc, and all of the other stuff I cant think of atm is used up.... Me? Im old enough to remember the days of 1Day Autopaint in Silverwater for $999.00....... LeeM Posted 21October, 2023 Report Share Posted 21October, 2023 @on_booost Same as any company/trade that uses consumables with price hikes, though it still doesn't justify what shops are charging for supposedly high end bodywork and paint jobs. A fool and their money are soon parted
on_booost Posted 21October, 2023 Report Share Posted 21October, 2023 It's also a function of labour costs..... and Real Estate....... For what you have to pay for an average tradesman (in any trade) let alone one capable of producing a high end paint job - - and then make a margin suitable to pay for a shop/space/consumables in any major city in AU is where it all comes from..... Good work is expensive. We have very few kids wanting to be tradesmen - instead we have a country full of overqualified baristas..... Don't get me started. /RANT off LeeM and micknine01

Windows out Rub and paint with some repairs $40+. Full bare metal some fabrication replace rusted panels can be 100+ all comes back to what you start with and what you want to finish with. everyone wants the later for $20k, never going to happen with our consumables and labor costs on_booost, P-Kay and OBRUT 1
