That won't last long, that looks like a nice car.

Reason i am buying my lifelong car finally is i have done everything over the years to justify not to have one for 'not the right time' and common sense reasons. Too many examples over the past few years where i have friends who have passed or have been diagnosed. One who had a fantastic collection of bikes and cars and worked to hard to 'eventually enjoy', others with the intention to enjoy one day, but it never transpired.

I am looking for a low k's car, however I intend to enjoy the vehicle for what it was designed for, i cannot take it with me and a low k collectible car is useless to my family who just want their father back, who never got to enjoy his dream car because he didn't want to put k's on it..

Just a different perspective, my 2c..

Cheers

Good on you JB, driving a great car makes you feel good, relaxed, must make you live longer surely :)

By the way great bike collection, I LOVE the 700RR. I ride a 990 Adventure as my everyday transport and I love it, but for my ultimate weekend fang bike it would be an RR. Ride it often and hard, like you stole mate :)

however new clutch at 40k? he said when he got it it wasn't right and didn't have good feeling in the pedal, all back to normal now.

Other thing before Porsche sold to him they put back in standard springs as it was lowered, so that combined with clutch suggests track?

@JB, my new to me 996 had a new clutch at 49,000km.  The specialists I asked about it weren't concerned - apparently some people are just bad on the clutch (e.g. rest foot on pedal) and can wear through them more quickly than others

'85 Carrera at CTS for $115k and 220,000km

Nice colour and condition. Bonus points for sunroof and wiper delete.

Deduction for smog pump delete.

Has 7" and 8" rims too but wrong tyre profiles make it look a bit mongy.

Be interesting to see how long it takes to sell.

Agreed, but why didn't he straighten the driver's floor mat before taking the pic?  Also, for the $$, and to match the rest of the car's apparent condition, a new gearshift gaiter would have been nice...

Yes not bad. Met the owner at Rennsport as he was in my regularity group.

He was just out there taking it easy, seems well sorted, talk a bit of money off that price and you are doing well, plus it's a car you can enjoy! ?

Spoke to the owner, bought from Porsche QLD by him as second owner with 2 year warranty. Full P service history, however new clutch at 40k? he said when he got it it wasn't right and didn't have good feeling in the pedal, all back to normal now.

Ticks all the boxes for me in terms of options, k's etc. I still think its overpriced by $10 odd k, however the clutch and the lowering concern me, he said hes had no issue with it and was very descriptive and honest about the car, even to the point of what was done before he bought it from Porsche.

Happy to give me the details of Porsche dealer to contact and happy for a PPI.

Just working on secondary 4S options if the local one I am waiting to be checked over and have the owner agree to what I want doesn't transpire.

Cheers

That one caught my eye too.  I wouldn't give a shit that it's a import given that price and how great that colour looks.

What would be a better buy at that price?  Not much I can see.

(Assuming underneath is as clean as on top of course!)

yes saw this today, contemplated but really don't want to spend that much..Also not scared of the import thing, but in my experience in buying and selling alot of cars and bikes, attitude and caliber of the owner dictates a lot about the car....

That is lovely.

Ahh yes, low km cars, to drive or not to drive, its a dilemma.

I hate myself for it, but it's why I don't drive my targa much. With only 117k on the clock, part of its value is the low km (for an 87 car). I'd much prefer something with 200+ on it, I'd drive it every day then !!

Don't be silly! You can turn yours into a 200km+ car if you work hard at it. What price the enjoyment getting there?

Or just buy another one or two and alternate :)

I recon you are safe Mike. A low km car in terms of value has to be under 50000 you would of thought? Maybe under 100,000. Once you've gone over that mark you hit the 'under 200,000' bracket which gives you a lot  of opportunity to add kms.

IMO and the cars the majority here dabble in, low kms are anything round 150kms or thereabouts on a 30-50 yr old car, suggesting it's all nicely worn in and very useable, very tidy.

Anything less eventually borders on 'Museum' worthy, though for the most recent addition to the panoply of cultural facilities prodding you for attendance and your money, Museum worthy may be a little elastic ...

Anything round 100,000 km is getting real low anything less gets odd till you get to the freakish 8000km CGT,

All this talk of km's? As a car gets older the km's become more irrelevant. Also, depending on the desirability of a car the km's may not even be a major consideration. If "how many km's has it got?" are in your top 5 questions (maybe even top 10!) when buying a 30+ year old car your way off the mark................

I'd say the market appeal for a 924 carrera is pretty limited, especially at 100k+. It will need to tick a whole lot of boxes to broaden its appeal, km's maybe one of them. Its fair to say desirable old 911's are more immune due to broader appeal and hence larger pool of prospective buyers. Anyone worried about adding km's as opposed to using their cars as intended really needs a reality check. If your car is the better car than the others on the market despite the km's it will still be the better car and sell regardless.

Less time talking km's more time making them I say. :)
