997 GT3 Market Watch

Love this tough looking Basalt Black GT3. But what a confused identity; RS rear wing, sports seats (not touring), dealer fitted cage and Sunroof.

Check out this 2008 Porsche 911 GT3 997 Manual MY08.

Sweeping generalisation incoming: Who is ordering 911s with a Sunroof? Let alone a GT3? I've had my 997 for 8 or 9 years now, and I've opened it once to see if it worked.

You're right though, that is an owner in search of a swiss army knife.

My dad loves Porsche’s and loves a sunroof!
i didn’t think you can order a sunroof on a gt3 though?

Am I alone in thinking circa $400k for a 997.2 is crack pipe dreams?

That is in pixi land as an ask. The only sale there was the one to carsales for the add!  I don’t know why they even bother.

I love a good drift on the road and in forum and thread and that car has been on my saved list for a long while ... it hasnt sold!! what do the audience say that would sell at ??   Is there something missing on the options list , the seller seems to wanna individually price every option..   would you give a shit ? $37k of you spent it I aint gonna pay extra for it .. what am i missing?   Apart from some decent carbon backed seats!!

Cant you just buy a rear boot lid and pop it on this for the same result and get a nice set of seats and a cage ?  https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2018-porsche-911-gt3-991-manual-my18/SSE-AD-6065586/?Cr=12

Also has anyone actually driven one of these a normal manual track bitch example compared to a touring.. I have to mention Touring just for Edgy , cos I know it cracks him and his Crack pipe ...  How do they compare? Is a 991 really an investment?   I wouldnt give Chellingworth any votes of confidence as a dealer  and I guess it has warranty over a 997.. thats a big bonus

A 997.2 aint no investment at that buy in price point..

At these prices I’m a fan of just buying new.  Whether gt3 gt4 orGT4RS…all much better value.  Brand new, warranty included and better cars etc.

a 997.2 2010 gt3 will be getting dearer to run from now.  They age out in areas like the knobs, plastics including radiators pipes, the coils (6) categorically fail at around this age….and between labour and parts it can really add up….

I believe GT3’s are an amazing toy, in most guises. That said because of the numbers off, (from an investment point of view, if that’s your thing) 996 and 997’s would be better. However I believe the 991.2 is also amazing.
Are they worth the money being asked for today?

The answer maybe, YES. Particularly so when you the asking price of other so called potentially collectable cars.
the beauty (well for me anyway) is that a GT3, can walk the talk, and doesn’t rely on looks alone.

Yep I reckon the 991.2 GT3 is an investment if that’s the way you want to look at it .

I think the motor will belong on the same pedestal as the Mezger it’s a cracker .

I can’t see much missing on that car Symsy other than some sexy headlights and seats as you mentioned.

Still think it is priced a little in the high side but I say that about everything
