Found a set of LWB seats on the hard rubbish pile on a walk before Christmas, the Lava orange really wasn't my flavour so gave them to my guru upholsterer to funk-up with a bit of Pepita and new head rests.

@Shedpest , you know that unbolting & removing seats from a car parked on the road overnight, is technically not a hard rubbish pile, right?!?   😁

Seems like all the GT3 action is on the for sale thread. So let me start with a few pics of my gearbox rebuild on the 996Mk1 CS....

What started as a refresh of 2nd and 3rd gear synchros has become a little more serious. A bit of a while you're in there, scope creep kind of thing.......🙄

Anyway, all new bearings, steel synchros, some new gears, shift fork, a 3.89 crown wheel & pinion in place of the 4.0 Cup Car ratio that was in there, plus a new LSD, clutch plate, pressure plate, throw out bearing, clutch for blah blah! Eye watering cost, but do it once, do it properly.......

Hey @Cam Arnott what made you decide to loose the 4-1?

Who did the seat inserts for you?  They look great, and presumably could be customised with thicker cushioning.

Had a good mate do it for me, he used the original cushions, Petita cloth and leather for headrest from Daley's.

Hi Peter

Two things - One was that I wanted a slightly taller ratio. The other was the higher wear factor in that the 8:32 ratio of the 4.0 - the 4.0 r&p wears faster than the 3.89 from the because the 4.0 has an even tooth count that causes accelerated wear as the ring teeth hit the pinion teeth at the same spot every revolution. 3.89 solves that problem with an uneven tooth count. Probably not a biggie in a road car vs a Cupcar but I only wanted to pull the box apart once!

You’ll be right for another half a million kms! 😆
