Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

Recommended Posts

What do think, is that price right?

If I didn't have a Porsche and this 968 had FSH, passed the PPI, etc with no problems I would be happy to pay that. I doubt you'd ever lose money on it.

I wish I was off tomorrow I would be looking this over.

Good  price, good looking body and interior....

I owned this car about 10 years ago and sold it to a friend in Qld. Its had a lot of mods done including the Andial boost gauge that replaces the clock on the RHS of the dash, the tacho i replaced without the factory boost gauge, the brake vents in the front bar. Engine should have a 965 intercooler, andial microfuel injection, water spary for the intercooler, big turbo and big hp. Car sold a couple of months ago for $130k.

Something a little different http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/prospect-vale/cars-vans-utes/1983-porsche-928-koenig-special-ls1-powered/1123118535

Not many like the Koenig 928 kit, not many like a chev in their Porsche. put the 2 together and you have a very small target market...

I much prefer the Strosek look, if we are talking modified 928s. Standard still looks best though :)

Apparently the gearbox is rooted, oil leaks from engine and not far of from requiring an engine rebuild.

Do you think the modded cars attract a certain clientele who like to thrash the cars (even though they are indestructible).

OTOH you have gents who like to pootle to coffee and cars in their studly garage queens.

Engine rebuild in 930 is what nowadays? 30k minimum?

I would think an engine rebuild including removal of engine would swallow every bit of 30k and some.

So perhaps the 130k purchase price took that into consideration? How was the rest? Interior etc

We are trying to establish the real value of 930s around the place!

It's not the $30K + for engine refresh I would be concerned about, it would be finding all the original bits that would have been removed and chucked to make all those mods work....that stuff is rocking horse poo these days, but if you want a modded car, that is still an Aussie delivery should you later choose to take back to stock, then this might be a great buy.

As a modded car these things are tremendous fun, and quite scary to say the least

Does anyone know this car?

1970 Porsche 911   The Perfect Porsche on Gumtree http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/1123312362

No, but an import using a Carrera dash (as evidenced by the vents) Also most likely the donor of the engine?

You are one brave man buddy with your stash of petrol powered vehicles strewn around NSW!

Looks the goods for the coin ;)

Looks pretty dodgy to me, but with potential. To start with, I can see almost zero evidence that it was once a 1970 911S. Not a single bit of chrome, nothing in the interior. It looks like somebody has transplanted every bit of a 3.2 into this car. I wonder if the chassis number has simply been "borrowed" to legitimise a car.

What we can surmise so far. It looks like it was an LHD car, based on the '86 onward dash. Engine and gearbox transplant. Forward dated and made wide body plus had a sunroof added. To me, it doesn't look quite right.

On the other hand, it claims that the engine (and maybe gearbox) were rebuilt in the last 3000kms.

This could make the base for a great project but what is it really worth? I would suggest it's hard to know without a proper PPI. If the engine and gearbox are really good and there is no rust, I suspect you still have to consider a suspension and brake refresh. I would also want to be a bit more convinced by the true story behind the car. Even if everything checks out, i am not sure this isn't top money, or am I just tight!
