The car justified a better review. No research and a fairly lazy effort by CH.

absolutely he did a lousy job on the technical details… but the more I consume CC content, the more you get the feeling it’s intentional to dumb it down in a top gear type of way…

Yep definitely seem to be going for that angle. You’d just hope they’d turn it up a notch for such an enthusiast car!

I agree, but I feel with the 996/997 generation of cars it’s more a case of “if you know, you know” they don’t need the grandstanding that the new ones get, as unlikely the typecast that buys the latest and greatest would cross shop some old antiques…

You guys make me laugh why is it that owners of or at least commentators on the older generation GT Cars have a dig at the new owners and cars and are highly sensitive to any opinions that differ from anything other  than them and their model being nothing short of the holy grail. It’s like  Andy and his GT boffins ran out of the magic sauce when piecing together the 991 and 992 generations. 😂😂

And by the way shit drivers still own older cars and good drivers exploit the new stuff nothing changed here.

The GT cars are all sensational embrace em all and build a better community.

I don't think those collecting cars 'quick steers' are designed to be anything else than a marketing piece covering mainly condition. Far as enthusiasm, if you watch them all he never takes any of the cars past 3-4krevs - street driving around the CC offices in someone else's car that is about to be sold on the platform.

I was a crap driver in my 996.2 GT3, which I never tracked, and now I’m a crap driver in my 992 Carrera S, which is a vastly more capable car, which I also don’t track.

I worked my arse off to afford my toys, which I enjoy driving, without bothering or hurting anyone, so who gives a shit.

Do whatever you want with your Pcar… track it, polish it, flog it, drive like Miss Daisy, fail to vacuum the carpets, put an ill-fitting body kit on it, save it for Sundays, daily drive it, wrap it in a fully-sick colour,  whatever…. Hopefully you enjoy the ownership experience in whatever way that looks like for you…… I won’t judge you.  Happy motoring!

I’ve gone from something fast and modern to now something modern classic for a bit more driver engagement. It’s a bit like porn, the more into it you get the more niche your tastes get. And the 996 gt3 is a pretty niche connoisseurs choice. Whereas the GT4RS is a Jenna Jamieson mainstream number. Horses for courses.

I do think the modern stuff is a bit of a wank though (for track use). Sure it’s nice, but if you are chasing lap times just get a race car.

With that said the owner of this green car probably thinks my 996 is far too modern 😂 IMG_8263.thumb.jpeg.a094eff38fe9b846c92c813b32d875dc.jpeg

That is the awesome part about the brand - so many sporty niches covered. I'm personally loving my mid-life crisis top down with the wind in my hair (982 Spyder). I equally love the 996 GT3 but for very different reasons.

No such thing as a bad Porsche experience in my books, just different.

I'm not having a dig at all, although, I do feel that the typical profile of a GT Porsche buyer has changed over the past few years. This seems to have also happened proportionally to the increased costs associated with gaining a seat in one.

I was admiring that 996 when I pulled up, lovely car @cafe_racer

Woah I think we have gotten off topic here. I’m visualising two teams wanting to arm wrestle or fist fight even!

But if we are getting dirty….

How long was the options list on a 996?

How long was the options list on a 991?

And let’s do a car swap- 996 lap of Phillip Island and a 991 lap, drivers switch and compare! 😆

Anyway- my take aways-

CH did an average video.

996 are underrated.

Newer models are always further developed.

I don’t have a clue who this Kate Jenna is but whatever floats your boat @cafe_racer

Jeez...seems a few have missed the sarcasm. Oh well, can't win them all I s'pose 🤷‍♂️

Personally, I don't give a shit how or what anyone drives, as long as it's a Porsche (not sarcasm)

😂😂

Let’s not get confused here optioning features, wether they be performance related or simply cosmetic are not exclusive to new cars.
