996 values coupe/cab manual/tip

WOVR only applies to vehicles under 15 years old,  plenty of damaged cars over 15 years old are back on the road this way including many track damaged Porsches

The WOVR includes any light vehicles (up to and including 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass, or GVM) and motorcycles that are less than 15 years old, which have been assessed as a write-off.

$10,250 - i'd say another 10k to get it all repaired and the buyer/repairer will probably sell for ~35k and make 15k off someone who will do a PPSR check and it comes back "clean"... The system has failed in this instance.

The system has not failed see my above post..  it will cost way more than $10k to fix & was probably bought for parts by a wrecker

Well IMO it has, how would you feel buying a car with accident damage that wasn't disclosed to you if it does get repaired and put back on the road?

Isn’t it something you’d find out with a PPI?

Wow that is a serious hit, it is possible to do a front end replacement on one of these as the built is sections. Basically windscreen forward can be removed (split spot welds etc etc) and a new front end put on (new or off a boxster possibly), not a cheap or easy job. Doubt it would be worth it for a 996 CAB, would probably make the 10K back in parts though engine / box / etc.

It is a good honest car. 147k kms, showing some signs of its age in the grey interior. Hasn't had the IMS done 😲, has a small weep from the RMS. The body and paint appear to be original. So overall I think it looks like a good car.

Also has a couple of small mods like a fister mod/gundo hack. That is a mod definitely worth doing. No drone on the freeway, but when you put your foot into it it sounds fantastic. Also has H&R cup kit suspension which is firm but not stupid. I was quite comfortable on my 2.5 hour drive home and I think the ride height looks great. Has a BMC intake and to top it off it has the clear heaadlight and tail light update which looks great, but it came with the old ones and the factory rims. Oh and it also has some spacers to just make the rims sit out nicely :D

Looks good and well priced mate. Find out who did the servicing and when, and try to have a PFA member get some eyes on it before a ppi

Thanks @LeeM

Are there any GC locals who have time to give this car a look over? Would be great to have a Porsche specialist also do the PPI.

I’m not 100% sure I’m thinking of the right car but I think someone might have been and looked at that one, or at least talked to the owner a fair bit? Might be worth a scroll back a few pages of this thread to check.
