Would have to be a record ask for a 996 GT3 other than Rusty French’s car!

Fantastic looking car, but $290k??  I will wait with interest to see how long it takes to sell

This is interesting.

This GT3 was offered for sale on Consignment 6.6.2020 at Porsche Centre Willoughby.  It was $160,000 drive away (incl. approx $7500 on roads iirc).

Seemed like a ripper car, but I they couldn't offer the PPI info I needed to buy, so it sold to someone else in QLD.  A short time after buying the new owner then tried to sell on car sales for around $180 iirc.

Ps. Very disappointing ad from CTS. I'm sure it will fire up @edgy with description as 996 GT3 Touring. No such model. Doesn't even have "TOURING seats" - ie Comfort option sport seats. These are standard issue GT3 Recaro's in leather.

Meh, details, details.

Shit! You know which bait gets me on the hook! 😂 and yes, you know I agree….  I think it’s laziness combined with riding the coattail of the current “GT3 Touring” moniker

anyhow, I’ve already wagered a bet on the sale result with a mate

That ad description has more holes in it than Swiss cheese. The first part is possibly describing a MK1, stating 360 BHP rather than 380, then the options list seems to be for a different car: “stainless entry cards” when they are clearly black. Throw a few grammatical errors in there, and it becomes clear that this one was written on a Monday morning. Not good, CTS. It will be sold within two weeks, and they know it!

Lol,

German Sports Cars - Those "post-it" notes don't mean crap - these guys are the worst - with a nice history like that - who in their right mind would send it anywhere but a dealer?

The "Stainless Door Cards" are exxxxy to replace - and if there were scratched ????? Black is much cheaper - and the thresholds always tell the truth about usage.....

Maybe just "missing" like the GSC history???

Oops, I'd better change my tag....... 🙂

If the person who purchased the car from PCW can flip it in 12 months and make $100k+ that's got to be a record.

When you define the market you can write what you want in the adverts or price tags.  Its sharp business , they probably have a few more popped away..  I love the Dutton Mecca and their other car temples around the country.  Im also ok with them making dosh.. lets face it costs a lot to build these places of wonderment, with goddesses at the door and mignons to wipe the dust from the cars and our sweat/slobber from the floors.

For its is us fools the buyers that drink their cool aid, they just pop it on the back shelf of the bar and write that latest outlook into the enticing cocktails list to be served to you.

When will this desert island realise ..  there are fine things and then fine things in a in short supply.

I shared this in a chat elsewhere but really if it is about price/money and profit , If you were investor and if you wanted a win you just pop your money down on this, park it and import it in a couple of years.. will be eligible not so far away $128k plus 5K to store it at Autofarm or somewhere known and you would be quids/dollars in -  Import and then you could flip it  https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12163626

Im ok with it all .. Worlds Gone Mad - Australia Madder

@symsy

But will they ever go down / back to what they once were? Or an ever upward climbing "stock"?

+ given the propensity here against slandering every "import" unit they reach cult status .....

What would be the likely upside?

Other than a cool jigger to drive?

I don’t have an issue with the car going to a specialist independent, but they could have stamped the book and provided an invoice. Post-it note stapled into a service book is taking the piss.

@symsy that UK car is beautiful. I agree, that’s wise, but only if you want to drive. It’s been discussed at length on here as to how snobby the Australian market is over imports. Our market will always heavily favour local cars. That’s not to say that imports have not go up too! Me, I’d love a UK spec RS to drive.

I think if that price is achieved,  you will also be quite crazy and if your not a gambling fan to say that this fake money world bull market is gonna stop its charge...

Its gotta few strides yet .. 10 maybe even 20%.   Even when people get hurt, they run mate .. look at Pamplona.

I will continue with the Bull metaphor cos the biggest set of Kahunas I have seen see sit on a statue on the entry to Wall Street and as they would say . "You gotta ride it" ... as unhinged as it is... there aint no fundamentals to match this to.

Its a cool aid party , but everyone wants to be at the party.   It tastes good and you cant knock the cars , but whats getting served .. yup I ask worth it .. not whats it costs .. worth it ?

I would like to be the authority but  I warn ya , I have addictions petrol sniffing addictions and didnt study economics nor did I get to an Ivy league school but .. my  half sane outlook is..

Australia doesnt seem to have any long term economic strategy , its people have a long term indoctrination into realestate and that markets booming and is a good source of play money.

When that runs out of steam the cars , water cooled or otherwise will overheat.

Other bullshit like NFT /Crypto etc has also created many play money multi millionaires

My question is what primary industry or work is being actually done apart from the playing with numbers on a page, what development of solid cash and infrastructure is actually happening here in Aus?  We are in Lockdown for gods sake..  surely the dynamic of what we need and the business for many has changed .. Can you keep consuming, how do you grow everything when there aint no real world things happening?   We get money out of the coffers that aint got money in em, we talk of back to norm when,  there aint no norm. We have muppets as pollies and they seem to be gaining more and more power.. I guess it will all end in tears , tyranny or maybe a revolution.

I think it time there will be tears in the car world also .. has to be , these are extravagances ..  I work on what I would pay .. I would be buying a GT3RS overseas and storing it or these cheap $130k like the one I shared if it werent about driving them and my garage wasnt nearly already full in two states .

I gotta go now im sorry gotta go get  to get my $750 from the NSW debt bucket for loss of income another pile of play money as I need to fill the car up with that $2.00/litre fuel they forecast..  another created economy.

Its like being in a Avatar movie , these fabricated realities we live in

I can take that Red beast of yours off your hands If you want to get an NA car ;) but maybe like me your addicted to boost ..

I look at myself in the mirror and say, UK import,  from the street, hated snobbery in the UK and hate it here 😀 .

I like to not say that and maybe I got a few flaws and scratches . Maybe even a little rust in my brain  and then I take me out for a real world blast beyond the forum and life feels better driving and I am the RS..  After all isnt the perception and personal experiences that defines what something worth.. ?  Skids = smiling  no matter what car you drive.

Yes I do reflect that I am  A- "RS" -E .  I guess most importantly Im trying to have fun.

@symsy couldn’t agree more. The garage queen is an evil thing. There is some enjoyment in cleaning, polishing, admiring what you have, but not as much as there is in actually driving it. There is no enjoyment in worrying about putting milage on your car.

In a way that's why I'm glad I've got a GT3 with 130,000kms on it 🙂

We have NFI on price... frankly think they've picked up a meth habit during lockdown with their prices, and 3 x white goods Toyota's in their showroom... the wager is on time to sell! 2 weeks it is with an over & under... the loser buys $100 worth of Resch's 😛 because we are klassy like that...

Good idea... fuck the investment potential, that is a beautiful car I'd like to own, drive and track the shit out of, especially at that $$

I'd happily buy an import, but for me I'd prefer factory RHD and would want it to check out ok. Then I'd happily just drive it. BUT I wouldn't expect to pay the same price as an Aussie car

You dont have to pay Aus tax . $128k + 5k to store for two years .. you can think about it import it and you will have change , you can fly over do a tour of Europe wash it and bring it home

Boags. .. I guess its all a foregone outcome really .. beer expensive or otherwise , occasionally fine food and wine  .. get  drunk .. claim the worlds gone mad even . We have these circular discussions if you look back in the history of the forum just the numbers change .. the model numbers and the prices we discuss 😀.  Is that car of your warmed up yet to be taken out for its afternoon thrash

Any economic speculation immediately leads to an over analysis mainly consisting of serval factors and variables nobody knows the answer to or has any control over. It all makes it a pointless exercise really. Nobody knows what the future holds, especially in the current climate.

What we do know is everything has it's price and this is mostly guided/driven by subjective and non-rational logic (although people do try to spin it otherwise). Old mate has his 996 GT3 for sale and he is trying to sell it for as much money as he/she can. No need to be surprised, nobody seems to bat an eyelid when a bog stock 3.2 Carrera sells for circa 200k..................Hell, if you are in the market for a tired 964 or 993 you need to budget that + all the stuff that needs doing to it.

I think people are starting to join the dots and a collectable & usable Porsche GT car that was produced in limited numbers and has a drive/feel that has been defined as one of the definitive high character 911's for AC drug money starts to make sense. I'd say there are more people out there buying 996 GT3's to drive than early AC cars - if you want a 'driver' it's an absolute no brainer.
