Bit of Boxster action this morning running both cars across town up north to PR Tech with my dad... I think he actually likes it?

Gotta say; the older they get the more I like the look/styling it’s very nicely proportioned design... plus dogs dick red interior is the way. 😎

Was trawling through CS (again) today and came across this beauty: https://carsales.com.au/_/details/SSE-AD-6536175

image.png.2bf3e651aa2eb11e8f31af4041f59885.png

Owner says: "I will drive and rev to accelerate the car when you inspect, but cannot let you drive sorry."

"Please note, the car drives normal for years with an occasionally exhaust-like noise. I spent $2K to have the car inspected for that and Porsche Centre Willoughby said “it’s normal”, and PR Technology (well known and regarded Porsche specialist) said it’s NOT IMS BEARINGS nor TIMING CHAIN. And they both wanted to “inspect further” but I didn’t want to waste more money. I did factor in this listing price reduced of $3K (a lot for that matter) from what the car is worth."

"*Because I really love the car, I will NOT sell it to someone I feel not respecting the car, that are those who TALKS DOWN or NEGOTIATE on it, I WON’T sell to you even you change your mind. It can’t be perfect in its 18 years, You can inspect it, but it a Take-It-Or-Leave-It, no negotiation, no talking down."

What are these people thinking??  Do they really expect someone to buy a car without driving?

Less than a week later and the “no negotiation” sale has price dropped from $22,000 to $14,994. He firmly states no negotiations...

...unless you agree to no mechanical inspection, then he’ll give you another $1,500 off!!  Sounds pretty clear there are some major problems.

If it wasn't a Tip it would almost be worth taking a shot....

I like it, but I would never buy off someone like that! No test drives but he'll rev it for you. And he's trying to get you to not PPI. Weird dude

Walk away  itsB/S

Not for a second had I considered it, there's clearly some severe issues he's trying to avoid.  Just thought it was entertaining.  Ive sent him a CS message asking for some more details, we'll see if he writes back.

Perhaps  ask for the 2k itemised invoice  from the porsche dealer.

This might suit someone - the kms are astonishing and I love the colour combo... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2970322466397897/

The sheer number of spelling mistakes in that ad make me question whether this is indeed the "B E S T Porche B o x s t e r" in the world.... but I guess he did say that "this is NOT A MISS PRINT."

Not really my chosen subject but found this on Gumidiot and it looks pretty good, local to me if someone needs me to kick the tyres with my oversized red and yellow boots.

I like this a lot, but logistically its a long way from me in Queensland...

(Allegedly) In perfect condition.  Newer vehicle with much lower kms but also not an 'S' model.

Interesting developments on this car ongoing at the moment. Will update you all soon.

Best one I know of is the PCNSW concourse winning example owned by @itsujack with 13,000 kms... its truly a museum piece!!

Not too shabby is it 😉

Only other I've seen similar is this one recently sold and previously owned by "Prominent Billionaire Family" , was listed at $37k.

Or theres this one:

2003 Porsche Boxster 986 Auto MY03 - 54,000kms  - $24,000 https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2003-porsche-boxster-986-auto-my03/SSE-AD-6560443/?Cr=8

Ok, Buckle in....heres my story.

I enquired about the above car a week or so ago.  Seller (Peter) was adamant that he wanted $24,000.  Came across as a bit abrupt (I've since found out he is American and its most likely just his mannerisms - turns out he seems like a good bloke) so I left it in my saved items to contact again later.  I got a CS notification on Tuesday evening that the vehicle has sold.  Bummer!

Yesterday, did the usual search on Gumtree and came across this:  https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/deagon/cars-vans-utes/2004-porsche-boxster-convertible/1248898680 - $29,000

image.png.c926c0957a4f32f418c9ad974b696073.png

I immediately recognised that these were pictures of the same car as above, and the sellers description was similar to the discussions I had had with Peter.  So I contact the Gumtree seller (Jon) and make some enquiries.  He tells me its a great 3.2l motor and its in immaculate condition.  When I questioned him he confirmed it was not an 'S', just a regular Boxster.  Then I question him about the motor size and he confirms its actually a 2.7l.  He then proceeds to tell me that he needs to get something else because his insurance will be too high.  Says he will take $28,500 for a quick sale.

I confirmed with the original seller Peter that this is indeed his car and that he had dropped it off "to some crackhead" on Tuesday night.  He said that he was desperate for the sale so parted ways with it for $22,500, but then after making the deal, Jon tried to lowball him when he turned up for delivery.  When I spoke to Peter yesterday, he was devastated that he sold it to someone he thought would ruin it, but needed to get it sold.

I've now also seen it on FB marketplace as well as listed by a friend of Jon's (listed as a 2006 with 160,000kms).  It's pretty obvious that the seller knows nothing about Porsche's.  Hopefully the vehicle is rescued before it meets its demise.
