Whats for sale (in Australia ) and interesting Thread

Recommended Posts

Why would you buy this, and then not drive it at all?:

Great spec as far as 991S go, but its not like its a 911R. Still could be a good buy for someone looking for a barely used 991 pre-Turbo engine.

Sold - I'd say drive for a year or two and still get most of your money back - Great spec

Pretty twitchy. @MFX & @SimonN feel free to carry on the conversation either via the new thread created yesterday or via PM. No one else cares. :)

we need more PCars to ogle and things won't morph to other irrelevant subjects.

by the way, is "bespoked" a word?

Good use of the orange PVC conduct to hold the hood up .............:P

oxford defines the word Bespoke as being ............

Made for a particular customer or user.

‘a bespoke suit’
‘bespoke kitchens’
‘bespoke software systems’
‘group tours and bespoke itineraries’

Looked at this today, had a good squizz around all the cars coming up on Monday and I have to say, the quality of them is much better than the usual tat. There's a distinct lack of dodgy paint jobs and knackered old shite masquerading as patina.

Yellow one has had a windows in repaint, probably many years ago and there's a few blemishes where it's shrunk back, but nothing that would put you off it and it has a very good shine to it. Interior is good, other than the minor tear in the drivers seat and the engine is very clean. Needs a set of tyres though, they're old and knackered despite having loads of tread. I'd buy it as a driver car that's for sure.

The red 911 SC cab is very good, even though it's a uk car. Probably better condition than the Aussie car and very clean underneath.

Very nice 280CE Pillarless coupe is a belter, if it goes for anywhere in the guide range then it's a bargain. The 635CSi is a proper retro motor in mint green, complete with matching green velour interior and non knackered Recaros. Retro cool ??

Best of all though is the Mk1 Escort twincam, @symsy should go for a look. I can see it going for well over the guide price, if it doesn't then someone has got a bargain, it's a stunning restoration.

Just a 2 cent view in terms of your pricing strategy and channel commentary.  I reckon you could drive an audi through your 7-15k pricing strategy on your daily aspirations, or you thinking future classic with resale on the mind and if so, may have missed the boat. eg my mail is my99/my2000 2 doors over the last couple of years % wise are up there with 993 turbo's........>

Cheers @smit2100, I do dig old Audis too, and have been sneaking a look at them also.

Back in 2000 I did the "Quattro Experience" with Audi Sport & Motor Magazine at Calder.  Got to belt the B5 S4 when brand new and lots of fun!  Best though was the hotlap with Cam McConville in the S8.  Scando flicks in the V8 limo I still remember with a grin.

Both the WRX and Audi S cars were cars I lusted after in that era so I kinda just "want" one...

The rally fan boy in me leans towards the WRX, but the Audis are a lot of car for the money.

Hmmm... What I don't need is cop bait!  And what I also don't need is crazy power.

This is on my saved list... thruppence for your (extensive) thoughts?  Maybe by PM before @hugh loses it!

Timing chain service is expensive. Engine has to come out as it's at the back near the firewall:

step07AfterRepairsHaveDeenDoneDSC0927.JP

Was supposed to last the life of the car, but there are plastic pulleys etc..

Unless there is more than 1 LHD 964RS Touring in Oz, this car keeps coming up. Is it part of their "private collection" and they try to sell it every 9-12 months? They state it is "1 owner", so have they owned it since new or is it on consignment (illegal in Vic). Or do they own it and because they are a dealer, they don't count as an owner even though it has been a long time? I would also be interested in the story of how it ended up in Oz.

The car does look great and is hard to fault. They seem to be the least popular of then 964 RS's but are a far more usable car because of the 25kgs of sound deadening, aircon and the comfort seats. While more capable than the standard C2, they don't match the basic 964RS in terms of dynamics and raw appeal that makes the basic car such a classic. It will be interesting to see if it sells this time.

 Taution bars?

I spotted that as well. It's usually nice to have taut suspension, but maybe that is taking things too far....

@TrevMcrev.  I was mindful and guilty of the lack of P content in my response to your post, but did circle with a few snippets tying back to a P car as you have referenced (was expecting a bit of  flame.  However my response to that point is it was a very very slow day on the boards in terms of P cars for sale / commentary, and at least I stuck to cars vs the barrage of further subsequent posts  Eg Thought I was on pFA  (property Forum Australia from those with P cars) .  Private message in your inbox as wisely noted

@SimonN , re your experience on having no line of sight on what house prices transact at.  What's more difficult, getting a line of sight on a UK property sale price or  Oz delivered P car transacted price for the ones that actually sell.

Trev,

That one's a V8...  The TT 2.7L V6 B5 is where the action is.

agreed!

I have me a mint B5 GP-Update Edition 1999.5 Turbo 1.8 Quattro Manual. Loverly thing. Kept fairly stock apart from H&R springs and RS4 18" wheels. 11 years ownership. Stuffed in storage and slowely turning into a barn-find.

consignment (illegal in Vic).

is that so?  I've had a car on consignment and was quite happy with the arrangement.  Had no idea it was illegal.  It didn't  sell under that arrangement but I'd happily try it again if I had something unique to sell.  Wonder why it's illegal?  Ever heard of a dealer being pinged?

I learnt something new today, i.e From consumer affairs / Licensed Motor vehicle traders obligations further to the posts above

Consignment selling

When a car is sold by consignment, it is sold by an agent acting on behalf of a person who is not a licensed motor car trader (LMCT).

It is against the law for a motor car trader to:

  • sell a motor car by consignment, or offer to sell a motor car by consignment, or
  • have a car in their possession with the intention of selling it by consignment.

You may face a fine of 100 penalty units, court action or both if you are an LMCT and sell a car by consignment.

The laws relating to consignment selling do not apply to cars sold at public auction.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In terms of selling channels, what happens if you set up PFA Car Kennel (car storage business for private flippers ) as a registered business that had dedicated car storage floor space adjacent to PFA Car Flippers (LMCT business as a retailer flipper) which had dedicated garage floor selling space, but had business signage  (wall / floor demarcation) to distinguish which business you are entering, and the cars in storage clearly have private for sale signs on them, but in the contractual agreement to store the car for a base fee of X for a certain number of months, their was a damages clause that PFA Car kennel at their sole discretion, could enforce a penalty that would be in the order of a typical consignment fee earned in QLD by a licensed dealer  if the car was removed from storage prior to the contractual end storage date (eg in the case where the private sale occurred sooner than expected and no need to store the car).
