What's putting a smile on your dial?

They really are an awesome piece of kit. I do hope the future includes the production of rotary engines.  You'd think with direct injection and other tech the fuel consumption problem could be fixed.

Just went to make a coffee for me and her, and she comes in the kitchen saying

'I've been smelling tomato sauce all night for some reason, and it was doing my head in, so I googled what it could be for coupla hours. Most searches brought up that I should get checked for cystic fibrosis, so I'm thinking the worst and did a big read up about CF and was getting all worried. Then I saw the bowl you left on the coffee table and wondered what had been in it and had a sniff. Pasta You bastard!!!!!!'

Can't say I've laughed that hard for a while! :D:D

My teen daughter 14, has a girlfriend over.

The giggles and laughs were so beautiful. I swear they played like 11 yr olds.

They are both living in male dominated house's having only brothers.

Must have them together more often.

Enjoy it while you can.  There's a reason why so many teenage girls got sent away to boarding schools with the nuns.

They turn...?

I remember my youngest daughter at 13 - 15 always her bestie (since they were 8) sleeping over at ours, they'd laugh all night and walk to the shops in their PJs and big fluffy slippers, silly girl stuff .....completed VCE together and now at 24 one is bankrupt (morally and financially) on drugs, unmarried mother of 2 to two different guys, been in gaol and a complete fuchtard  and the other completed her degree with honours pshycology and social work and just landed fantastic position with a statewide welfare agency commencing on $82k / pa plus ..... glad (and fortunate) to say my daughter is the latter .... and now she's the biggest PC leftie and I clash with her incessantly hahhhaa....

My model daughter in London at the monent (with boyfriend) was asked out for dinner and drinks by an American who owns casinos and wrestling championships. Currently reported to be worth $2 billion. When she said no, and that she had a boyfriend, his minder replied thats its ok as this man has a wife.

Luckily my daughter asked me the question "Do you think it is possible for a man to just want dinner with a girl? Or do men always want something else eventually ?"

Despite the lure of $2billion dollars from a 50+yo man with wife and kids older than my daughter, and the fact that he has the mafia involved in his life........i said "RUN AWAY!!!!!"

Btw.....despite being a man, i said "Yes....most men would want something else eventually.  Especially someone as powerful as this guy "

Took the car for a quick run for breakfast......went to a beach cafe.

Some female surfers parked next to us and started to (a) strike up a conversation about the car and (b) strip naked while changing into their bech gear.

Then the killer............miss 25 year old said "ah. Its a Porsche. You might know a friend of mine.........Steve Syms. He is very eccentric. ".       No joking. Only in byron.

Spending the last month touring around the USA and Canada :)

Driving a few US cars along the way! Had a great trip (may share some pics/ details later...) now back to the grind.

Automobiles of my USA and Canada trip.....

Dodge Challenger. A lot of fun but unfortunately the road from Vegas to Grand Canyon is devoid of turns.... Still pressing the LOUD pedal (and it was loud) always brought a smile. It was a car I grew to love. Can lift heavy things but not too bright :)

Chrysler 300 C AWD. Surprised me in how good it was. Again Road from Toronto to Niagara was devoid of turns or fun so could not fully test it...

The big black beast! GMC Yukon XL. bloody big and heavy car!! Was too big for what we were doing so swapped it for a 300 S. Unfortunately had this car for what was probably the best driving roads of the trip, it can be made to go around corners quickly, just doesn't sip fuel that well (almost 6m and 3 tonne of machine!)

Swapped the Yukon for this, a Chrysler 300 S, more "sporting" than first one and 2wd with low profile tyres/ bigger wheels plus spoilers :) Had it for a week and enjoyed it.

Got to explore some nice roads and snow driving, but again US/ Canadian roads are mostly too good and straight....

Got it somewhat dirty......

Was nice to get back into my 928 :)

@ANF .. stop taking away my smiles with your travel distractions…  we are talking 25 year olds here…. and not 25 year old cars :)

I rarely get to hear sentances with reference to my name ,  that dont contain the word classic in them especially,  when those kinda numbers  (25) are also thrown around.

Ok lets talk about Challenger then …

What happened to the wheels or was the suspension set to offroad after you returned the the dirty red car

Challenger is as standard, it is an R/T model. Was the first car we hired, my wife even drove it :)

Bit of story to get you started. I wanted to drive US iron while I was in the US/ Canada, the car we booked was some boring sedan so I asked if they had a Mustang. No but you can have a Camaro, cool I thought until we could not get our bags into the boot. It was big enough just too small an opening. What else do you have, guy say he may have a Challenger..... a few minutes later said guy is driving Challenger through Avis carpark reving it and lurching about :D fun times are ahead!

It is a 5.7 Hemi V8 with about 380 bhp and has some wicked sounding exhaust, loudest production car I have heard at low to mid revs and it is all factory. Sounds great gassing away from lights, not Porsche quick but still bloody impressive :) 8 speed auto plus most of the mod cons new cars have.

Heavy and big which dulls performance, but this car is all about the noise and the style/ pose factor - it delivers. On the way from Vegas to the Grand Canyon we saw dozens of Mustang and Camaro hire cars but virtually no Challengers, it was a good choice, and neither sound anywhere near as good as the Challenger!

I did test it's Corning a little and it is definitely more of a straight line car. But boy is it fun at what it does. They would sell really well here. It even has a function where you can record your best 0 to 60 acceleration times as well as braking distances!

Overall a nice car for what it is, an old fashioned muscle car. As I said I grew to love it, even the boring colour. Alas did not get around to videoing it, had intending to just to show the noise :) my wife who is a total non car person was even keen to video it, just ran out of time.

Only the red 300 S went "off road", well driving 10km on a snow covered road...... only a 3.6 V6 but listed as 300 bhp but never really felt it. A bit " mundane" after the Challenger.

Some things never change, sound good and go well in a straight line ... oh and of course auto!

I'm not sure any American manufacturers would understand this "Cornering" thing you mention... very confusing concept, just drive down the interstate boy that's what they're there for ?

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally pulling the trigger on a 2 post hoist.

Happ is the brand. Chinese made, designed by the Australian seller apparently.

Read only good reviews.

I have so many jobs stacked up it will pay for itself by the end of winter.

Just watched the Canadian F1 replay from last night....

Daniel Ricciardo, coming in third, and taking the spotlight on the podium.

By popular demand from the crowd.....

Champagne shoei for him, and then a champagne shoei for the Canadian Actor doing the interviews.

Then chucking his driving boots into the crowd.

You might have won the race Lewis (and well done) but that's how to win a crowd ...

What a great drive from Seb as well
