The cost of the repairs is $52K. I had estimated $50K, so I wasn't far off the mark.

Thank goodness I was insured and not at fault!

Now the long wait for my baby to come back to me.

Geeze there must be a lot of internal damage for 52 k. Visually it's a no plate light and a cracked bumper cover, maybe a right rear tail light.

Hey @GT3MEZ,

Love the look of these and they save some weight too..!

Could you please share brand and where to source?

They are made by Surface Transforms in the UK - the folks that supplied the VW IDR Pikes Peak car;

https://www.surfacetransforms.com/

I purchased locally from PR Technology in Sydney as they had stock on hand;

What a painful experience.,

I suspect they might completely replace entire rear bumper. !

Either I've been blind, or ST have just started advertising in the UK Porsche mags - I've seen their adverts and advertorials in the current issues of T911 and 911 & Porsche World.  Supposedly heaps cheaper than Porsche supplied PCCBs???  I think they said they can be re-surfaced 4 times??

Looks the go if you're running these.....

They can be resurfaced "up to 4 times", though obviously that depends on the amount of damage on rotor surface. Not sure about the current PCCB rotor cost, but a set of ST rotors and pads is ~GBP10k or just to other side of Au$22k. Main thing for me was they don't seem to have any of the reported PCCB issues when used heavily on track, the refinishing opportunities, and some weight advantages over the PCCB's let alone the steel rotors.

Drove the kids to school in the 930.  Fan belt squealing.  Then it stopped doing that.  Then the alternator light came on

We we’re running late so I rolled the dice that I’d get there on the battery.

Made it.  Lifted the lid.  Oh dear.  Not pretty. Close it up and decide to head back home instead of the office

Shes running a little hot.  Drive faster.  Doesn’t fix the heat … car starting to stutter.  There goes the battery, getting ready to hoist the white flag …

Made it!

Grab the Ranger and off to work.

Luckily I had a spare belt in the tool pouch!

A coupe of phone a friend FaceTime’s with Michael from Autoart (“the shims can be tricky mate …”), and she’s back together

Nice and quiet now.  Had to take it for a nice long run after work of course.  For the sake of the battery of course

Here’s the offending item post refitting the new one -

Now try those tricky bastard asshole shims on the side of the road with no prior experience or gloves on after a spirited hills thrash 🔥🖐🖐😡

I'm sure @Stew F can assist, coz I ain't doing it again!

Lol, not 'kn likely. After burning my arms on Sal's car, and then schredding mine at Symmons Plains, I'm not touching one if I can avoid it.

I have been chasing a steering wobble since buying the car,
New wheels and tyres

New brake rotors, pads and replaced the dodgy adapters

Refurbished struts and new shocks

New suspension bushes everywhere

New tie rod ends, now one complete tie rod

Refurbished the crossmember

straightened a sway bar bracket

All new bolts

Cleaned and painted everything

then I took the steering rack out....

This is the steering coupler.

so if anyone is replacing their suspension bushes, just undo three more bolts,  slide the rack out and check the coupler.

Had a similar challenge, however mine ended up being the wheel bearings. Noticed you hadn't mentioned them so just in case......

No, but they are next on the list.  Just trying not to shock the wallet too much.

I did repack the bearings prior to “the Saga” but the wobble prevailed.

It’s been a learning experience.

Today I fitted the soul side muffler bypass pipes to my 3 RS .

Up on hoist for rear bumper removal as I wanted to see if the air cleaners needed a clean and they did.

IMG-6358.jpg

Rear bumper removal is very easy came off in 20 minutes .

removal of the bumper also make it easier to remove the heavy side mufflers , just gives you more room to get them out ..

IMG-6354.jpg

Difference between the Soul Bypass and the large factory side muffler quite a weight saving..

IMG-6355.jpg

Side muffler delete pipe fitted again pretty easy straight forward swap out .

IMG-6356.jpg

Rear bumper back on and ready to start her up .

IMG-6357.jpg

Not a huge difference in volume from stock muffler , but the car has more of a cup car sound about it know ...

Finally got my baby back from Charlie Battisti and Co. today. They did an outstanding job! Can't tell it was ever damaged. Highly recommended for collision repairs!

I took the cover off for the first time in probably 6 months today.

Also looked at the log book, and my last entry was exactly 13 months ago 😳🙄

I really need to get off my arse

Was thinking of going to Unley C&C this Sunday, though the weather is looking wet.

Might be a reason to fire her up?
