Finally got my car back on the road!! After a year long project that had heaps of scope creep and plenty of life happenings slowing progress..

I started with a refresh of bushings and bearings concept in mind..

Ended up doing a KW Coilover conversion, Elephant Racing mono ball rear bushings, polybronze front bushings, 935 Spring Plates, Tarret adjustable drop links, Elephant Racing Finned Oil Lines, New engine oil lines, replace all the bearings in the steering rack, replace wheel bearings, led indicator and brake light retrofit… and lots of powder coating, ceramic coating, cleaning and  painting and zinc plating of parts..

Now hopefully it doesn’t pour down for the Track Day on Tuesday 🤞

It’s all good, I have known it was dodgy for a while.. now I can sort it properly.. 👍

No!!

Following the pattern of your suspension rebuild you’ll end up with a sequential racing type gearbox!

Been sitting for a while. Checked oil n water filled the tank and headed off into the hills. Nice run, F all cars on the back roads - the sun comes out and the roof comes down! Spent a nice half hour coffee break checking the ambience of Emerald station complete with Puffing Billy full of Xmas cheer

Great Pic

Some very cool cars in that group 😎

Is that good looking car at the front of pic (with green Porsche script across front screen) the 911 that was recently for sale on Carsales?

Thank you.

I don’t check Carsales regularly, but I do know the owner just recently added this to his collection. 🥳

Every time I see your car, I always think you must have a blast in that thing. As you know I'm not a massive Boxster fan, yet I fkn love this one...and Jeff's Roxster

Absolutely Lee! I'm not much of a fan of the look of a standard 986 but it didn't take much to man it up. Jeff's V8ster will be a tough little beast when finished. I've had a variety of pristine AC/WC 911's yet this Pcar is the most all round fun I've had by a mile. Absolutely low cost so zero fuchs given when I'm on the edge with it, and the way it's set up stiff light n loud it feels like a fun event just exercising it to the shops. Plenty of grip and go for the track, and in the hills roof down engine singing 2nd through 4th and the smell and close feel of the bush, it's one of life's joys, fast or slow.

  • 2 weeks later...

Not so much what I did “to” my car today but what we did “for” the cars

I bought a truck to move the race cars around when I’m flying solo.  Good little thing.  Jap import.  As I discovered, it has a certificate of authenticity ... read on ...

Anyway, spent the day with my boys washing it inside and out

As we progressed to the cabin, my older boy quipped “maybe we’ll find some porno’s Dad”.  ( I was of course horrified and immediately called his mother to find out what she’d been talking to him about.  And then I hung up before she answered ...)

But wait, we actually found some “adult reading”. Under the passenger seat. True.

My arm was too big to get under the passenger seat so I said to 15 yo “see what that is”.

And behold, it’s a Penthouse from 1979!   And how we laughed (and then tried to cover the issue up when my 12 yo came out and said “what’s that?”.   “A street directory”  I say as 15 yo stifles a gut laugh.   12 yo looks at us quizzically and says “it’s a porno isn’t it?!”

Lucky I have his mother on speed dial.  WTF has she been saying to our sons?!

Anyway, I get rid of the evidence and we move on when 15 yo says “Dad, I think there’s another one ..”.  Seriously!

So he  reaches in again and out comes a vintage Japanese anatomical magazine.  I kid you not.

This time it’s straight into the recycling bin.  12 yo is far too inquisitive... that was the 15 yo’s call.  I was a tad curious as to contents but it went.  Fast!

At least we have confirmation that it was indeed a Japanese import.

So.  Here are some pics of the Big Clean

A day the boys and I will celebrate.
