P-Kay Posted 17September, 2020 Report Share Posted 17September, 2020 Last of the air cooled with 3 pedals Looks tidy Better air-conditioning than a G body Possibly the interior colour is contributing to it's prolonged stay on CS?
Turra Posted 17September, 2020 Report Share Posted 17September, 2020 I actually like the interior colour. The kms is an issue possibly as well

firstone Posted 17September, 2020 Report Share Posted 17September, 2020 Yeah i like the colour combination. If Buchanan automotive have had it unfettered by expense for 13 yrs it'd be pretty tip top. I'd also imagine that would make the owner very confident in his value. micknine01

The owner let me take it for a nice drive on my own even from kiama to Jamberoo in the rain. He seems very nice and had a 968 previously. He had a potential buyer on it who had him take it to the Pit Exchange. Andre didn’t like it much. Bilstein adjustable suspension felt lovely but Andre is not a fan? Drove beautifully, very tight car all round. Beautiful body and good tyres. 197000 kms and closing in on the magic 200k with no known major work on the box. The motor and box feel very good Hough. I reckon if Autohaus gave the engine and box a clean bill of health it’s an ok buy at or close to the money. Without that PPI, it’s a bit rich. Andre advised his buyer against it full stop. He knows more than most so I guess without a full PPI I’d take his advice. Really nice car though but the owner will not negotiate at all and that my friends is that. So it will likely sit for another year.

I would expect that if a Porsche Specialist mechanic gave this advice, there must have been something substantially concerning. Have you spoken to Andre directly? Surprising, given ad says its been maintained by Buchanan's 13 years no expense spared.
luzzo Posted 18September, 2020 Report Share Posted 18September, 2020 Love a 996GT2. Rare car, and this new listing looks very tasty. DJM Posted 18September, 2020 Report Share Posted 18September, 2020 ^ nice and shiny! Wouldn’t want the ceramics on a 16 year old car 😬. And I agree you must have the CS interior in one of these - they’re a legit fast car.

Not taking away from any professional advice or suggestions, but a ton of us have bought cars sight unseen over the internet and also seen cars and bought without a PPI ... and I’m sure that over 50% of the above purchases would have been knocked back if they had of been inspected. I personally would have missed out on a couple of good cars had that “air of doubt” been planted in my over active thought process. When I bought my SC on ebay one night (yep, last minute click of the mouse) I had to have the brakes rebuilt, and new suspension on all corners. It came with 1 receipt for an air conditioning re-gas Yes, it needed a couple of maintenance items over my 6 years of ownership, but it was seriously one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. I have bought cars from Perth, rural Australia and just down the road, no PPI and / or sight unseen. Don't miss out due to fear. The trick is to buy the owner as much as the car. You can easily tell the ones that don’t care and the car is just another car. The decent ones are owned by enthusiasts that will talk all night about their “baby” and know every nut and bolt. Good luck in you search ... and remember ... regardless of what other people think ... a good deal is when both the buyer and the seller walk away happy. If he was willing to negotiate maybe a quick call to Buchanan’s with his permission maybe enough to remove any doubt. I did this with mine, good owner, good paperwork, car as represented and a call to AH whom had maintained it was all it took for me to put the cash down, no PPI no looking back. LeeM Posted 19September, 2020 Report Share Posted 19September, 2020 I'm sure there are plenty of cars that have been given a clean bill of health by professionals, only for them needing some sort of work to be done. Money can be got and things can be fixed, yet opportunities are lost Dalai and Dreamr

Just put the offer on the table.. and im sure he will negotiate I don't know Buchanan but if he's mechanical work is like his posts , it would be thorough I have only heard good things Good 993 , just offer 110k and let them think , that's still very good buying 10-15 for a rebuild on the motor at worst .. and you have a great car for another 20 years.. Jump in and smile I would say I have bought a near perfect car Porsche maintained under 30,000kms and spent a bunch a cash I have bought a 200,000kms car and put 50,000kms and just serviced Porsche roulette. us72t, DJM, 3legs and 3 others

Turra Posted 19September, 2020 Report Share Posted 19September, 2020 I said to the guy if he got a clean bill of health from Autohaus, I would pay the asking price, $105 without it. Can't be any more upfront than that. Car has been on the market a very long time so I reckon he just tells his wife he can't sell it.
